Title: Blue Sunshine (1978)
Post by: voltron on March 18, 2013, 06:44:28 PM
Jerry (Zalman King) is falsely accused of three brutal murders which took place at a party in the beginning of the film. On the run, Jerry is determined to find out why the killings took place and to clear his name. The murders are linked to a form of acid that a group of people took in the 60s which eventually causes them to lose their hair and become violent psychotics some 10 years later after taking the drug.
Solid (but slightly uneven) horror/suspense effort from Jeff Lieberman (Squirm, Just Before Dawn) that almost has a Cronenberg type feel to it. Oh, and the "babysitting" scene is classic! Reccommended. 3/5

I've been trying to find this for years.  Is it on our favourite 'full movie' channel?  It was listed in one of my favourite childhood books, 'Sci Fi Now' along with Westworld, The Island of Dr Moreau and Slaughterhouse 5.

Watched this and had fun, but didn't think too much of it overall.

The only reason I watched it was because the film has a bit of a cult legend. I think mostly because of the outre of its plot. Disco madness!

It's okay, if you have patience for this type of '70s movie. Oddly enough, I most connect to it for Zalman King, who was also in Galaxy of Terror, which I had recently seen.

I would not care, but he also ended up being a central figure in early '90s softcore. 9 1/2 Weeks was probably his magnum opus, but then he had The Red Shoe Diaries. All crap, except when you remember that in the early '90s the internet did not exist. Zalman King was one of the progenitors of basic cable pornography, with one crossover hit.

I could excuse myself, but it made a big impression as me as a young man.

Now I'm looking at Jean Rollin as a cinematic genius.

(He isn't.)

I thought King was quite good as the sadistic biker with the funky white frame sunglasses in TRIP WITH THE TEACHER (1975).
