Stylish, well acted Canadian Indie Horror finally coming to home video in the States this week (I've bought the European Blu-ray release some time ago).
American Mary received lots of praise at Film Festivals, but I can see people not liking it simply because of the hype.

I wouldn't say its brilliant but I really enjoyed this film.  Katharine Isabelle did such a great job.  It was one of my 'didn't know anything about it going in and then really liking it' movies of the year.

It certainly helped that I saw it at a festival sitting directly behind the directors who had a Q and A afterwards and were hilarious, who then also had an after festival party at a bar where my friend and I got supppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr drunk and had an absolute ball.  Ah memories.

Just finished watching this one and IMO it is fully deserving of the hype it has been receiving. Great performances all around, unique/engaging plot and an overall solid pace makes this one of the stronger recent horror movies I have seen. Love that Canadian horror is going strong, this and Ginger Snaps are two fantastic Canadian horror movies starring Katherine Isabelle, looking forward to more in the future!

I started this one night before last (very late), then got interrupted to run a friend home from the ER because his family won't even give him a ride home (Sorry, mini-rant over!) and finished it around 2:30 in the morning, so some of the plot got by me.  However, I found the performances very solid and some really neat moments here and there - although I personally think some of the extreme body modders are freaks plain and simple!  Still, it was an interesting story, and I did not see the end coming at all!

My wife and I watched this on Netflix last night. I thought it was pretty decent, I don't think my wife dug it very much (the whole piercings, body-mods, etc. scene freaks her out)...

Katherine isabelle is a cutie. She kinda reminds me of Shannen Doherty in her early 90s prime.

Great film with one of my favorite actresses, Katherine Isabelle. Some bizarre moments and well-worth watching!
