Title: "Curse of Chucky" (2013)
Post by: Joe on June 28, 2013, 12:11:48 PM
Alright, so you may have heard the details on this, and maybe you haven't.

Apparently Don Mancini has decided, and kept it all hush hush quite well, to revive the franchise by seemingly going back to its roots. He is picking up the story right after part 3, so Bride and Seed never happened, and the Chuckster has FINALLY gone back to his original look. The cast is also all new, and non self aware. With the exception of Brad Dourif returning to voice the doll.

The kicker is that it comes out in September, which totally threw me for a loop since there had been little to no news whatsoever. I actually thought this project was dead in the water. Low and behold two days ago, the poster leaked as well as some stills. And apparently the trailer will be following shortly. It is screening in August in the UK.

I have this weird mixing bowl of emotions about this right now. It could be terrible, but something is making me incredibly curious about this entry. I actually hope it turns out well.

Thoughts?

I'll watch it of course.  I'll have to see the trailer to see if it is worth theater prices or not though.

Heard about this earlier in the week. I forget which site I read about it on, but it seemed to indicate that it was going to be a straight-to-DVD release.

I'll probably check it out.

was about to make a thread for this but did a search and found this one.

What an utterly pants movie

I'll admit I'm not a big follower of the Child's Play franchise (although I did actually study Child's Play 3 for my media studies A Level), but this was purely crap on every level.

Set the whole thing in a drab, atmosphere-less house? Check.

Have characters that are so unengaging that if you met them in real life you'd make your excuses and leave the room before dying from boredom? Check

Make Chucky himself seem like a random extra drafted in from a completely different movie, that has nothing to do with this one? Check

Faith in modern horror restored? Un-check!

Totally agree. Just watched it and had high hopes, but I didn't like it. Nothing happened for at least 40 minutes and thats fine if there was some atmosphere or build up, but there wasn't. Worst one.

yeah I was thinking maybe it's because I haven't followed the whole series could be why I wasn't 'getting' it, then they had that scene where they're all round the table eating chilli...and I realised its not me, this is just crap lol

on a related note, a much more entertaining horror that features the female lead in a wheelchair is Formula For A Murder. recommend that one
