Title: Related Searches appearing
Post by: pizdatrica on July 23, 2013, 01:47:07 PM
So I am using the forum today, after a long absence, and this strange banner or something is appearing on the left side of the screen every time I open a new page on the forum. I'm using Mozilla Firefox.

That looks like some sort of advertising software (adware) has been installed on your computer.  If so, it should also appear on other sites.

There are so many adware programs that I am unsure which one it might be.  Running a adware/malware scanner might help identify and remove it.  I have used both Ad-Aware and Spybot in the past.

I got something like that last time I updated Adobe flash player, except instead of giving me a menu on the left it would open extra browser windows with related crap every time I clicked on a link to anything.  It was some malware that I apparently didn't say "no" to when updating the flash player.

Where the hell are you getting your flash updates from? There shouldn't be any bundled bloatware WHATSOEVER. Always go to adobe.com, if you did you have a bigger problem like a malware packager or something. Give malwarebytes free edition  a try if you haven't got it.

I have seen Adobe introduce bloatware to updates downloaded from their site.
