Title: 42 (2013)
Post by: indianasmith on July 26, 2013, 05:29:32 PM
I watched this with my family yesterday, and I was completely impressed.  All jokes aside, this is one of the best movies I have ever seen.  Jackie Robinson, as portrayed by Cahdwick Boseman, conducts himself with dignity and class in every scene, and Harrison Ford was almost unrecognizable in his role as Dodgers owner Branch Rickey.
Not only is this a great movie, I think it is a much needed one.  Robinson is a far better role model for young African Americans than so many of the "thugsters" that are glorified in film and sound today.  I remember, after watching DJANGO, being somewhat surprised that a film as repulsive as it was (although not without entertainment value) could be nominated for Best Picture.  42 is far more deserving of that honor, and Boseman definitely deserves Best Actor for his incredibly gripping portrayal of one of America's true heros (a term I don't throw around lightly, but Robinson was IT!).
If you haven't seen this one, you need to.
