GREAT EXPECTATIONS (1946) on TCM right now !!!

One of the best English language movies ever made.  DAVID LEAN directed.

I quite enjoyed Lean's Great Expectations, and this is spoken as somebody who holds no special accord to Dickens' original work.

I think we've spoken Lean before, and I said that I enjoy his earlier, smaller works more than his later epics. I still hold that opinion.

Of the dozen or more versions made, both for TV and the big screen, one dating back to 1909, this is probably the best of 'em. Look for Alec Guiness in his first credited movie role. Also the motion picture debut of English actor Howard Lang.
