Title: RIP Squeaker
Post by: akiratubo on July 30, 2013, 10:18:12 AM
A few days ago, we found an abandoned kitten and took him in.  We called him "Squeaker" because he hadn't learned how to mew, he could only squeak.  We fed him, kept him warm, and he was seemingly doing well.  He was figuring out how to stand and his eyes were open.  This morning, out of the blue, he was very cold and unresponsive.  I held him in his little Tibetan-hat-bed.  By about 11:00, it was clear that he was dead.  I'm glad we found him so that he didn't die all alone and hungry.

Aw that's so sad.  At least you did what you could for him and made his last few days warm and comfortable.

Moments like that are always sad.  Thanks for doing what you could, from a fellow cat lover.

I know the feeling. Your compassion stands you well.

That is sad, but you can never be sorry for having compassion.

I've been there and I am so sorry! Growing up in the country we took care of a number of lost/abandoned animals that sometimes didn't make it. But they were grateful for the care we gave them as was this tiny kitten, whether they can express it or not. You're a good person with a warm heart.

rip  :bluesad:

as a side note I just got my first ever pet, an 8 week old kitten, last month.

It's surprised me how much stuff they need besides just food+shelter. (and how expensive it all is!). he's already had 2 loads of vaccinations, also needed to be de-flea'd and de-wormed. Luckily my local vet is a 1 minute walk away

You did what you could, and that's all that anybody can ask of you.

{{{HUGS}}}   Aw akira!  You gave comfort to a dying animal.  Oftimes that is all we can do.   :bluesad:  Animals live in the moment: know that you made Squeaker's moments much, much better.
