Title: And now it's done . . . .
Post by: indianasmith on September 21, 2013, 10:42:10 PM
For the second time in two years, I have written a complete novel.  THE REDEMPTION OF PONTIUS PILATE was begun on Sunday, January 27, 2013, and finished tonight, Sunday September 21, 2013.  In it, I have traced the life of Pontius Pilate from his early years as an ambitious Roman soldier and politician, to his role in the trial and execution of Jesus, to his unlikely conversion to Christianity, and finally to his death at the hand of Caligula's Praetorian Guard. Of course, all we know of the historical Pilate is the ten years that he was governor of Judea.  We don't know what he did before, or what happened to him after.  But I tried to stay within the boundaries of what COULD have happened.  It's a good story, I think, and I had a lot of fun writing it, but right now I feel utterly drained.

Congrats Indy, but I still think you should have included scenes with Pilate fighting mummies...

Actually, I am thinking of writing a sequel called ZOMBIE PILATE VS MEGASHARK and pitching it to the SYFY channel!

Well I hope you remembered Pilate's victory over the High Elves in the Second Era, and his discovery of the last surviving Dwemer in the depths of Nachand-Zel   :bouncegiggle:

As always, congrats, old friend!

Cool, man. It must be a very satisfying feeling to finish a project of such magnitude.

A couple of years ago I found some stuff I'd written in college in a box of junk, including the beginnings of an action-adventure novel I'd that attempted but never finished... I cringed at how bad it was. The world should be glad that it was never completed.  :teddyr:

Freddy - I started my first book in high school and filled three or four looseleaf notebooks with its handwritten saga.  About six years later I found those notebooks in a box when we were moving and read through it - and put them right back in the box!!!
I started a fantasy novel while I was in the navy, got about 80 pages written, and abandoned it too.  I did write several short stories, mainly horror, during that time, which were not bad - one of them was published.  But from about 1990 onward, I took a break from fiction writing - until I began my first novel, THE TESTIMONIUM, in 2012.

Now I've got two books under my belt, and really need to do some marketing on what I've got before I begin the next one!!
