Title: Is Gypsy attached to something?
Post by: Olivia Bauer on September 26, 2013, 12:40:28 PM
She's like a hose attached to something I can't see. I just realized this when they did a joke in The Creeping Terror. They made fun of the fact that actors literally had to crawl into the monster's mouth by having a skit where Tom Servo forces Gypsy to eat him. What is she a vacuum cleaner?

According to the shows-Mythology? Canon? Continuity? or whatever you want to call it-Gypsy actual runs most of the Satellite of Love.  This job puts a strain on her higher functions which is why see acts and sounds the way she does.  Interviews and articles in the official MST3k companion say that the creators came up with this idea, as a way of explaining why the shows' (for a long time) only female character seemed kind of dopey when compared to the others.

I'm guessing that means shes connected to some sort of central computer system, and her body is long enough that her head can travel around the ship as needed.

That's what I thought, too. Gypsy is only smart when she shuts down the other duties, as per one .EP where she did just that.

BTW- Richard Basehart!
