Title: Rich people doing humiliating things for money film
Post by: Ina on October 04, 2013, 08:39:38 AM
Another film which I've been trying to find out the name of is one in which an ultra wealthy old guy has so much money he does some weird cruel stuff with it for kicks... For example he made an old woman eat cat food but you don't actually see this I think it's just alluded to. He basically arranges events where people can try to win lots of money by humiliating themselves somehow. There may be gold tickets that are given to those chosen. The odd thing is that the circle of people who are invited/participate are already wealthy - They are just so greedy for money that they continue to do things so they can get more and more.

He has a daughter who doesn't like what he does but she doesn't really do anything to stop it. Her boyfriend decides to participate in one of the events because he is poor and desperate and curious... I think people get killed at these type of events. That's all I can remember about this one, sorry. I hope someone out there can help. Thanks in advance!

Sounds a lot like THE MAGIC CHRISTIAN (1969) with Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr, except they don't limit their pranks to wealthy people only and the specific examples you cite aren't in there. In the major event they throw money into a vat of sewage and people off the street jump in to collect the bills. You might give it a look. If it's not THE MAGIC CHRISTIAN then your movie was inspired by that one.

It's not the one and I tried seeing if that could lead me to the movie I'm looking for but so far it's only leading me to Beatles related stuff. Thanks for trying though!
