Title: MST3K - Movies that didn't suck that much
Post by: Olivia Bauer on October 07, 2013, 01:27:11 PM
Deathstalker and the Warriors of Hell wasn't that bad. Generic but the plot was easy to follow.

Any other movies that didn't suck that hard?

I quite liked DANGER: DIABOLIK.
THE GIANT GILA MONSTER and BLOODLUST were okay.

Most of the Russo-Finnish movies (especially JACK FROST) would have been good without the terrible Roger Corman dub jobs.

I kind of have a soft spot for THE GIRL IN LOVERS LANE--no classic, but for hobo noir, it's not too bad. I ACCUSE MY PARENTS is similar---it's dumb, but it actually has some good parts, decent acting, and the musical numbers are catchy.

THIS ISLAND EARTH isn't terrible.

I haven't seen it, but MAROONED/SPACE TRAVELERS actually won an Academy Award for best visual effects.

I've never seen DIABOLIK but I've heard good things and hope to see it soon.

Yeah, JACK FROST was kind of charming.

THE FINAL SACRIFICE is too insane to hate.

I've got Space Mutiny on DVD and it's still a lot of fun without the MST3K treatment.

Yeah, kinda like Plan 9.
GORGO is great either way for me, so I'm with Leonard maltin on that one.

Bride of the Monster, Hobgoblins, The Creeping Terror and Robot Monster off the top of my head.

Umm... I might be wrong, seems to me you're using a strange definition of "didn't suck." Are you really saying those movies didn't suck, or that they sucked but you enjoyed them anyway? I mean, I love ROBOT MONSTER because it sucks...

I always enjoy watching "The Hellcats" and "Riding with Death"

then again, I always get a chuckle when I see Ross Hagen

HOBGOBLINS is kind of fun, but I really thought CREEPING TERROR and ROBOT MONSTER - despite the legendarily bad monsters - were deadly dull.

I remember thinking I accuse My Parents was actually kind of good. Mitchell

MITCHELL might be all right, but I don't know if I could ever separate it from the riffing - it's probably my favorite episode  :bouncegiggle:

If it's movies you liked AND enjoyed riffing on, then for me it's GORGO, THE DEADLY MANTIS, And flicks of that ilk.

The hilariously bad looking monster makes it glorious to me.  :teddyr:

They all have their flaws and in the case of  Hobgoblins, The Creeping Terror and Robot Monster it greatly enhances the quality of the film. As for Bride of the Monster, while the octopus clearly doesn't match the one in the stock footage, I really like it for what it is.

The Incredible Melting Man was somewhat decent imo. The gooey effects looked well-done and the tension was okay. The acting was a bit over-done and there was too many night shots where you couldn't see what was going on, or were were enough on-screen kills.

Agreed: I actually enjoyed it a lot and would like to see it without the riffing.
