I should just explain that Ster-Kinekor is the oldest cinema chain in South Africa and now they've retired all their projectors!  :bluesad:

I think Brother Pilgermann would like to weigh in on this too.

I know that there is a trend of 35mm-to-digital going on here in the States, but I also know that there is also a large industry for second-run theaters, also known as "the cheap theater". The numbers I've read is something like 80 percent of movie theaters here in the States have "gone digital", but they've also been saying that the compact disc was on its way out years ago in favor of digital download music, but I walk into stores and still see CDs for sale at regular price. Some markets just refuse to die. Vinyl records were made obsolete by CDs back in the 1980s supposedly, and here they are nowadays making a strident comeback.

This is disappointing. I know it's not the most popular type of projector anymore but there are people who enjoy it more than the more modern ones and there is a market for it just like zelmo73 said about vinyl records.
