Wow 106. I have about 100 Shaw Brothers movies in my basement in the outdated VCD format. They released some amazing stuff.

He was in incredible health for almost all of his life too - was still a day-to-day chairman type at TVB until a couple years ago.  For some perspective on his age, he began working in movies AS AN ADULT in the silent film era, and was still working long enough to be in the living memory of people not old enough to remember the 1990s.  He was married for fifty years, out lived his first wife, got married again at 89 (to Shaw Bros. producer/singer Mona Fong), and that marriage lasted 17 years.

Also, Mr. Bean was his favorite show.

What a life.

I just read this today, (March 2) and I am totally impressed by the legacy this man has left us with.  The Shaw Brothers made the only real quality films in that time period after Bruce Lee's passing. As well, their super-human fighters in crazy costumes epics have made their impression on my generation as we sat glued to the TV on Saturday so we could watch such great movies like Five Deadly Venoms and Kid With The Golden Arm.  Thanks for all the fun, Mr. Shaw. You really had a great life and thanks for sharing it with us thru your movies!
