*But only if it goes to cinemas in South Africa. Title: Re: Phantasm V: Ravager Post by: Javakoala on April 02, 2014, 07:27:21 AM I can only pray it is less annoying than that fourth movie. I won't even touch the concept of it making the slightest bit of sense, as that stopped happening with the second film.
That being said, yeah, I'll watch it when it hits DVD. Title: Re: Phantasm V: Ravager Post by: Chainsawmidget on April 02, 2014, 08:38:52 AM Making sense wasn't really a priority in the 1st film. The whole things feels like some kind of nightmare fever dream. The bad guys are obviously not playing by realities rules and there isn't much that can be done to stop them. That's one of the things I love about the series.

The bad guys are obviously not playing by realities rules and there isn't much that can be done to stop them. That's one of the things I love about the series. The first film could be seen as a young boy dealing with the death of his family by way of fantasy. In a way, it made sense. The second film was mostly a rehash of the first with different characters and a wider playing field. Starting with the second film, I gave up trying to see any theme to hang the events on. Run around, shoot things, silver/gold balls, blood, more shooting, more running, oh look we won, whoops we didn't, credits roll. It would be nice to see them do something innovative with the fifth movie. I don't have high hopes. But, as I said, I will most likely buy it and watch it when it hits DVD. Title: Re: Phantasm V: Ravager Post by: BoyScoutKevin on April 05, 2014, 12:26:23 PM I may see it, having seen the previous films in the series, and even stranger, I may actually like it. Having seen all the previous films in the series, and in the order in which they were made, I didn't particularly like any of them till the last one in the series, so far, which I did like for some reason.
Though, the silver ball is one of the most iconic images in horror films. SILVER BALL = PHANTASM! Title: Re: Phantasm V: Ravager Post by: Doc Daneeka on March 17, 2015, 09:01:52 PM I forget which ones of you are Phantasm phans after all this time, but who else has been keeping up with RaVager?

Knock on wood this doesn't become another releasing disaster like All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. I know the cheap (even relatively speaking!) production values are going to turn both new and old fans off already, just as the CGI did in Curse of Chucky, and a delay would sour things even worse. |
