Title: Some New Info
Post by: Mofo Rising on March 31, 2001, 09:57:08 PM
Just two small tidbits I learned today.

One, ZARDOZ has been released on DVD.  A director's commentary is included, so you may actually get to learn some of the impetus behind the making of this movie.

Second, and this is the news I'm really excited about, Mr. T has starred in a Christian thriller called APOCALYPSE IV: JUDGEMENT.  Here's the IMDb page:

Now, I know what you're thinking.  Christian thriller?  Did THE OMEGA CODE teach you nothing?  But c'mon, Mr. T!  It's probably his best work since THE TOUGHEST MAN IN THE WORLD.
It also stars Corbin Bernsen (oh how far can one fall?).

Yes!  One of the most demented films of all
time comes to DVD.

Well, I'm sure many would disagree, but "The Exorcist," the "Omen" and "Prophecy" series and even severe crudnuggets like "Bless The Child," "Child of Darkness, Child of Light," and "Servants of Twilight" are "Christian thrillers." Wow, leave the kids alone!

On the other hand, Kirk Douglas' nude scene in "Holocaust 2000" made me doubt the existence of a higher being.

...but I know what you meant: action flicks produced by the likes of Billy Graham and Benny Hinn (gsnort--picture that one). Lots of has-beens have fallen into the "Christian thriller"'s dark, burning pit of damnation: Gary "I-don't-need-a-helmet-owwwww " Busey has been in one, Michael York was in "Omega Code," and, uh, ol' what's-his-name was in "Left Behind."

And Willie Aames is Bibleman.

Did MC Hammer do the soundtrack?

I don't think he showed up because of washed-up status, though; he's a true-blue believer.  While channel-surfing a couple of months ago, I caught him on the rabidly-Christian station (I think that might be its actual, name -- RCS-TV) talking about how he plays every role to the greater glory of Jesus.

To which my reply was, "Gary!  You're the bad guy!  People love to hate you!  They're not looking to you as a example of Christian living, bud!"
