*** SPOILERS AHEAD *** The woman ends up breaking off the relationship when she finds out the guy is married and he lies to her about getting a divorce. The guy freaks out and eventually hires someone to throw lye in the woman's face. She loses most of her vision and her eyes become horribly scarred. The guy gets convicted and goes to prison.
