What it for, again? and why would I do it?
I mean-I can dump a bucket of ice water over my head-but no ones gonna give me money for it.
f**k that-I wanna see them shut themselves in the foot. In the head would be nice-but the foot will do.

Trevor, is that where you either have to pay a donation or you get ice water dunked on your head? Considering it's 95 in the shade here, sounds not too bad. At least it's not the infamous "wedgies-for-dollars-frat-boys-on-the-rampage" thing that had everyone walking backward in 1997. Or the great "bra-strap-snap-for-a-cure" of '02.

Reminds me, years ago in a psychology class they had everyone stick their right hand in a bucket of ice water to see who could stand it the longest, and whether men or women had more pain tolerance, whether hair color had anything to do with it (red-headed people "supposedly" having the least pain tolerance) or whatever. I guess there are plenty of things I suck at in this world---dodging scissors, getting a suntan, tolerating my mother-in-law---but I found that such an easy challenge that I was the last one to endure and the professor finally had to tell me to take my hand out at the end of class because he was worried I might actually suffer damage. I think the trick was I made a tight fist and kept my muscles clenched and that made my hand conserve heat...I guess? I noticed others just kept their hands flat. I was a tennis player and had a pretty strong grip back in the day.

Hmm, wonder if I can go around and pour buckets of ice over random strangers' heads and tell them it's a charity thing? Wow, that'd be evil. And by evil I mean freakin' awesome in the extreme. Now where can I get half a ton of ice?

I could do it.. but really cold water over my head would probably give me a bad headache.  Since I hardly ever get headaches they hurt when I do.  I'm starting to get a headache just thinking about the challenge.  Thanks a lot Trev.  :tongueout:

I jumped in 45 degree water before 4 times, so I think I could do this.

Is it actually achieving anything? Other than pouring ice on your head are you actually contributing to a charity?

Dean - I think it's in aid of funds for ALS.

So-if I dump ice water on my head-ow does that magically make money?
If that was the case-I'll swim in the s**t and pay my hospital bills.

Oh I get what it's 'for' but other than dumping on yourself does it actually do anything?  I mean it's hard to raise money for a charity with just publicity and soggy shirts...

I'd say it's been phenomenally successful. I roll my eyes when I here people b***hing that it's a waste of water. If they're so worried about water conservation then go build a outhouse in your backyard.

The social media sensation, which aims to raise awareness and funds for Lou Gehrig’s disease, has sparked a more than 1100% surge in donations between July 29 and Aug. 19 compared to the same period in 2013, the organization said.
