DNA tests have shown that the Ripper was one Aaron Kosminski, a Polish immigrant in England. Someone a decade ago claimed to have DNA evidence for Jack the Ripper's identity, finding a completely different person than this result.

The origins of the shawl will need to be thoroughly scrutinized and the DNA evidence verified. A very interesting theory if proven true though.
