Title: So long, pal

Frosty (2000 - 2014)

My poor wife had to take him to the animal hospital to be euthanized this morning while I am out of town on a business trip.  I wish I could have seen him one more time, but my wife didn't want him to suffer for another day.  He was a great companion for 14 years and we definitely spoiled him.  At least I know he had a great life.

Exactly, there are so many ways pets lives can end abruptly or they can be miserable and underfed and so forth. Be happy he had a great life and you enjoyed your time together. RIP Frosty

:bluesad: Losing a pet is hard. It's good you had so much time with him though and that he had a good life. R.I.P. Frosty

Aw man, you've certainly got my sympathy.  When our last cat got really old and we had to have her put to sleep it was the saddest day of my life.  But it's best to just think about what a good life you provided for them, that's all you can do

So sorry to hear about losing your pet.  We recently lost our 14 year old cat, Dixie.  She was basically a house cat, but loved lazing in the sun on the back deck. About 2 months ago she  just suddenly took off and never came back.  We searched everywhere, put up signs, but nothing. Animals sometimes act strangely when they get old. I hope she's in "cat heaven" (if there is one) and chasing bugs. I miss my girl. :bluesad:

14 years is a good, long life.   Be happy for him.

I just spoke to my wife again and she is lost without her little companion.  Luckily, we have another dog to give her some comfort until I get home on Wednesday.  This business trip couldn't have come at a worse time.

I know how it feels. PeeWee lived to be 19. A little (mostly) black and tan hound. A good dog will hang out with you when everyone else is p**sed at you.

Euthanizing a beloved pet is really hard, I've had to end my own dog's life too. Just remember it's not murder, it's mercy.

I keep saying this to myself.  But the selfish part of me wishes we could have kept him around for at least a few more days.

We know. But if they will suffer, it's more loving to let them go.
It still stinks, but...

He looked like a happy little fellow.  He obviously had a good family.  RIP, indeed, Frosty.
