Title: SyFy/Asylum's "Z Nation"
Post by: FatFreddysCat on September 16, 2014, 11:43:13 AM
Anyone checked out this new show on SyFy? It's a production of The Asylum, so it's pretty much what you might expect... a low budget mockbuster of "The Walking Dead."

I viewed the premiere episode via SyFy On Demand last night and... ehh, it's OK I guess. the characters thus far are mainly cardboard cut-outs with no distinct personalities, so the scriptwriting definitely needs to be kicked up a notch or two. Plus, there was a scene involving a Zombie Baby (!) which was supposed to be shocking but turned out unintentionally hilarious.  :teddyr:

I might stick around for another episode or two to see how it develops but overall I don't think "The Walking Dead" has anything to worry about.

Review of the first episode on my blog, if you're interested: http://fatfreddyscat.hubpages.com/hub/SyFys-Z-Nation-Lacks-Bite (http://fatfreddyscat.hubpages.com/hub/SyFys-Z-Nation-Lacks-Bite)

I wasn't blown away by it, but its a nice filler show until TWD comes back. It definitely has that "asylum" feel to it which I love!

I was pleasantly surprised that this is actually watchable unlike syfy's other stuff. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is quite engrossing at the same time.
