Title: NEBRASKA (2013)
Post by: RCMerchant on November 24, 2014, 06:56:01 AM
Bruce Dern is an old man living in Billings,Montana who has one of thost magazine subscription junk mail letters that sez he has one a million dollars-so he decides to walk to Nebraska and cash it in. His son cant talk him out of it-so he drives him. They stop in his old hometown and his family and his ex business partner-played by Stacey Keach-try to get there fingers in the pie-not knowing he has won nothing.
Great acting by Dern-he's really low key here.
I like the scene at Mount Rushmore-
David Grant: So, what do you think, dad?
Woody Grant: It doesn't look finished to me.
David Grant: How do you mean?
Woody Grant: [upon seeing Mount Rushmore] Well, it looks like somebody got bored doing it. Washington's the only one with any clothes, and they're just kind of roughed in. Lincoln doesn't even have an ear.

This is a very slow film-but its enjoyable-like sitting on a porch on a lazy evening sipping whiskey.

I saw this as well. I really liked it. Stacy Keech played the a***ole perfectly and Bruce Dern, well he was nominated for an Oscar for a reason.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's in my Netflix queue.  I think Bruce Dern is fabulous.  One of my favorite Dern performances is his role as a cattle rustler in THE COWBOYS.

Check him out in SILENT RUNNING (sure you have),TATTOO,and he's great in the Aileen Wournos movie MONSTER.
I think youll like it Burgo,if not LOVE it-I LOVE it. Bruceis so-for once-underpalying his role. He's a good actor-because you would think he really is the delusional old guy in the film-when in real life that guy has it all together-and is a great actor.

I've seen these movies.   Surprisingly, I don't remember him in MONSTER.  I need to break out my DVD and watch it again.
