Title: DEAD SNOW 2: RED VS. DEAD (2014)
Post by: indianasmith on December 11, 2014, 07:48:14 PM
This movie pics up where the original Norwegian zombie splatterfest left off.  Martin, the sole survivor of the Nazi zombie massacre at the ski lodge avoided turning into a zombie by cutting off his arm with a chainsaw, and returned the Nazi gold he and his friends had found to the undead Nazi Colonel Herzog. But the zombies came after poor Martin anyway as he made it back to his car and fled to civilization; Col. Herzog was trying to strangle him when Martin sideswiped a truck, tearing off the Nazi zombie's arm.  But then Martin wrecks his car as he reaches the city, and is taken to the hospital - where the doctors assume the severed arm is his and sew it back on!
Now he is being blamed for the death of all his friends, and not only that, his new undead appendage wants to kill everyone around him!  Martin flees for his life and calls in a group of American experts who call themselves "The Zombie Squad."  Martin tries to confront his undead tormentors, even as they begin going on a savage killing spree that spares no one in their path.  Tourists, women, children, a hapless priest, even babies - they all get bludgeoned, hacked up, blown up, torn apart, and generally savaged by the merciless Nazi zombies.  (If there was an Academy  Award for "Most Creative Use of Human Intestines" this movie would have it hands down!)
Then Martin discovers that, with his new, powerful "zombie arm", he can summon the dead from their graves and create a zombie army of his own.  Upon hearing that some 80 Russian POW's murdered by Col. Herzog are buried nearby, he uses his powers to call them forth, and then the greatest showdown in movie history begins: Nazi Zombies from Germany vs. Communist Zombies from Stalin's USSR!  It's a fight to the finish, with body parts flying, blood spurting, and guts slinging!  The gore is plentiful and well-rendered, the zombie make-up amazing, and the acting not too shabby.  The Americans on the "Zombie Squad" are hilariously over-acted, and the poor kid that is Martin's first resurrected follower has, perhaps, the worst luck of any zombie in the history of film.
This movie is a bad movie lover's dream!  I cannot recommend it highly enough.  Check it out, whether you have seen the first one or not!
DEAD SNOW 2: RED VS. DEAD  gets FIVE STARS from me all the way!
