Title: the 10 worst movies you've seen in your life
Post by: bob on February 15, 2015, 10:39:47 PM
I got the idea for this from the 10 best thread.

The only precursor for a film to be listed is that you must have watched the entire movie and not fastforwarded through it or gave up on it while watching.

Here are mine.

1 Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (2011)
2 Foodfight! (2012)
3 Monster A Go Go (1965)
4 North (1994)
5 Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
6 Epic Movie (2007)
7 Disaster Movie (2008)
8 Magnolia (1999)
9 Batman & Robin (1997)
10 Battlefield Earth (2002)

dishonorable mentions: Mac and Me, Howard the Duck, The Beast of Yucca Flats, Catwoman, Gigli, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Ready to Rumble, Puppet Master: The Legacy, Saw 7, Die Another Day, Godzilla (1998), Dreamcatcher, An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn, Salvation Boulevard, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Crash, The Wizard of Oz

By "WORST", do you mean enjoyably inept, or painful to watch?

This is gonna be kind of hard, but here goes:

FULL MOON OVER BLUE WATER - Gene Hackman couldn't save this piece of dreck.
FAMILY PROPERTY: BACKWOODS HILLBILLY MASSACRE - Awful beyond words.
BULLY - Yes, it was an A-list movie with some talented actors, but I hated every single character.
THE BLOOD SHED - a porcine fifty something man pretending to be a girl named Beef-Tina and dragging a dead squirrel around
SKYLINE - Horrible, depressing alien movie, albeit with some cool effects. Still . . .
SPAWN - I just couldn't make myself like this one at all.
GANGS OF NEW YORK - Long, long, too long, and BORING!
THE THIN RED LINE - stream of consciousness World War II movie utterly lost me
BIGFOOT VS. D.B. COOPER - sounded like fun, wound up being a full hour of homoeroticism and five minutes of Bigfoot!
SUPERMAN RETURNS - I generally like bigscreen superhero movies, but this made BATMAN AND ROBIN look like THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!

For obvious personal reasons, these are mine.

CRY FREEDOM
[Anti-South African garbage made by people who should know better]

LETHAL WEAPON 2
[Same as above: not all South Africans are racist, gun toting, drug and currency smugglers]

A DRY WHITE SEASON
[A film about racists made by a self-confessed racist]

A WORLD APART
[Film about terrorists as a family]

THE WILBY CONSPIRACY
[More anti-South African garbage with Nairobi standing in for Johannesburg. What the hell were Sidney Poitier and Sir Michael Caine doing in this? Rutger Hauer too?]

THE COLOUR OF FRIENDSHIP
[Disney pap saying that children were killed here for their political beliefs: go to hell, Kevin Hooks!]

LOST HORIZON (1973)
The first film I ever saw that made me a bad movie fan: even at the age of six, I knew this was rubbish.

ET THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL
[A film which states that my God is a butt ugly dwarf alien? No thank you.]

DISTRICT 9
[An anti-South African film made to look like a sci-fi film: excruciating viewing]

CITY OF VIOLENCE (2013)
[French made garbage showing Cape Town as a crime ridden filth pit]

If it is enjoyable, it is not bad. Is the main point of the whole site you are after all.

ET? Lethal Weapon 2? Really strange list Trevor :) Perhaps the "personal obvious reasons" are so obvious to me after all...

About me, I can't make ten. But the #1 is definitely "After Last Season" and #2 is "Star Wars, the Holiday Special!"

Cabin In The Woods (2012). - yes, this is the most painful, unenjoyable movie I've ever sat through in my entire life. my opinion of humanity as a whole including myself actually dropped a few notches after watching it. I want to remove it from my memory but I can't.

the rest are in no order, but all of them pained me greatly in a way that means I can't forgive them

Hitch Hike (1978)
I Spit On Your Grave (1978)
Halloween 5 (1989)
Steel Trap (2007)
Pumpkinhead (1989)
The Aristocrats (2005)
Aftershock (2012)
Inbred (2011)
The Card Player (2004)

Probably forgetting a few, and if I was including films I never actually finished the list would be mostly different

03 Curse of the Headless Horseman (1972)

This is actually the #1 worst movie I have ever seen.  But it didn't fit in with my list, which consists of mainstream stinkers.  Curse of the Headless Horseman is a true curse in every sense of the word.

Very difficult, because the worst movies are mostly incredibly boring and hard to remember. Here's 10 movies I gave 1 star on IMDB:

BEDWAYS (2010)
HEAVEN'S GATE (1980)
DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN (2005)
MOON OF THE WOLF (1972)
THE SCREAMING SKULL (1952)
CONTAMINATION .7 [AKA THE CRAWLERS] (1993)
THE UNKNOWN WORLD (1951)
THE INCREDIBLE PETRIFIED WORLD (1957)
THE CURSE OF BIGFOOT (1976)
VIXEN HIGHWAY 2006: IT CAME FROM URANUS (2010) - Not only is it terrible, incomprehensible and unfunny, it's 3.5 hours long. I dare you to watch it. I dare you.

HEAVEN'S GATE (1980)

I didn't see this movie until about a year ago on Netflix.  I didn't think it was a terrible movie.  I thought its biggest offense was that it took much too long to tell a story that could have been told in under 2 hours.

You probably saw the director's cut, which is supposed to be a lot better than the hacked-to-death edit I saw on VHS. I haven't seen that one, but no way am I watching HEAVEN'S GATE again.

1. Billy Madison (1995)

10. Friday The 13th: Jason Goes To Hell (1993)
this possibly would've been in my list had I not fallen asleep before the end, so technically I haven't seen all of it.

5. Clerks II (2006)
this would almost definitely be near the top of my list, but again I didn't see it all. I couldn't handle it and had to switch off

I'd really love to put Solaris (2002) at as my number one bad movie, but since the rules say you have to have watched the whole damn thing (tried twice, then it ended up being passed around my work where we had a compitition to see who could sit through and watch the whole movie. Only one guy succeeded and he immediently demanded I return the 100 minutes of his life he had just wasted watching it). Anyway, I digress.

1) Demon Cop (1990) (which features neither a demon or a cop, more sort of a werewolf probation officer).
2) Batman Forever (1995) (I rewatched all the Batman movies just prior to the release of Nolan's first one and found that I now disliked this one even more than Batman & Robin).
3) Into The Woods (2014) (not sure if I can count this one as I did fall asleep in the cinema while watching this, but I did hate most of the bits I did see).
4) Raptor Ranch (2013) (got this one so my wife could use it to mock my brother in law, whose profile strongly resembles a raptor. Apparently most dinosaurs killed their prey by stepping on it was what I learned from this movie).
5) Les Miserables (2012) (stop singing and just die damn you!).
6) Boogeyman 2 (Ulli Lommel's sequel) (all this film is, is clips from the original with the odd clip of the directer being interviewed in a cell), and a clip or two from some other movie thrown in).
7) The Hitcher (2007) (pointless remake of one of my favourite 80s movies).
8) Halloween 3 (1982) (I think everyone knows whats wrong with this one).
9) Headhunter (2005) (if I am generous then I'd say it has five minutes of entertainment squeezed into a ninety minute movie).
10) Star Wars - The Phantom Menace (1999) (I wish I could crush George Lucas's childhood memories the way he destroyed mine).

In no particular order:

Eraserhead: Lingering on each shot for a few seconds too long only makes me more bored than I would have been if the film had been edited properly. Lynch tries way too hard to be weird, so that it seems to be a fake weirdness, if that makes any sense, which it does to me.

Pan's Labyrinth: A beautiful movie made awful by the ending. I won't do spoilers, but this is the meanest movie I have ever seen.

Drag Me to Hell: Cliche after cliche, right down to the "twist" ending.

All Cheerleaders Must Die: Awful everything.

Titanic: A one-night-stand on a doomed ship means more to Rose than a lifetime with a loving, supportive husband. Skank.

And on the more obscure side:

Hootenanny A-Go-Go: The title is bad enough. The movie is worse.

Yeti: I hear the cries ringing over the mountains: "Boooooooooooooooriiiiiing."

Monster High (the 80s movie, not the kids' show): Some of the worst everything on the planet, all on one DVD.

Cornman: He's a superhero with corn power! It tries to be a meta-movie, acknowledging bad scripts and acting in the movie, but done so poorly that it should be used to fertilize corn, not exalt it as a superpower.

Blood Gnome: A movie so bad that it makes kinky sex too dull to watch.

I am not sure I can reel off ten, and my choices are not as classic as y'alls are.  But,

1.  Transformers, Age of Extinction.    Soooooo booooooring!
2.  Star Trek, Nemesis (but can I count it if I yelled and shut it off?)
3.  Dracula (1992).
4.  Xanadu was pretty horrid.
5.  Home Fries really sucked.
6.  Deathstalker 2, I second that.  Haw.
7.  Alien 3.   I was angry from the opening credits onward.
8.  I think I repressed the rest.

the third one is the worst, but no way on the line of life bad movies

1.SINGLE ROOM FURNISHED (1966)-Who makes a pretentious,talky,trying-to be-deep movie with Jayne Mainsfield???
2.2012 (2009)-Don't get me started on this one.
3.the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975)
4.CHILDREN OF THE LIVING DEAD (2001)
5.ARMAGEDDON (1998)
6.the SHINING (1997 mini series)-Stephan King hated the original-and approved of this???
7.GOING OVERBOARD (1989) Not only is Adam ( urk-sound of repressing vomit)  Sandler in it-it's totally unwatchable.

I understand that. But it is a lengthy torture session on a little girl with a mean-spirited ending. I watched Terry Gilliam's Tideland, which is an even less feel-good movie in a similar vein (i.e., a little girl in an unimaginably horrible situation trying to escape into her own mind), and it offered a much more satisfying end (still not exactly happy, but also not just mean). I would have been saddened but satisfied if Pan's Labyrinth had ended with the girl retreating completely into her mind and either going completely catatonic or even dying because she just gave up on reality, but the way it ends ruined an otherwise well-done movie for me. If you like, I'll go with Ronnie instead and replace PL with either Rocky Horror Picture Show or 2012.

I'm more surprised no one has called out Burgomaster for dissing Lifeforce. How can 30-45 minutes of Mathilda May running around starkers be considered an awful movie?  :twirl:

Oh, no, it's your list and your tastes/reactions to a movie.  No worries.

I was just busting your chops a little bit.  I can see your point. But, I have to confess I was a bit amazed to see PL on a list of WORST movies...can perfectly understand it being on a list of "Movies I didn't like," though.  I guess the devil is in the little detail of how one defines "worst" or "bad."

after giving this more thought I'd probably have to make room in my list for SPECIES 4. I love the first Species so I ended up buying the box set thing. 2 is just lame, 3 is terrible, but 4 is a new standard of bad. and not in a good way

My brain changes its mind week to week, but here are 10 non-MST3K-covered, POS movies for me:

1. The Room: took me three attempts to get through this mo fo. Some scenes are funny but overall, it just hurt.
2. Showgirls: seen this in the 90s and still haven't recovered.
3. The Wickerman remake: what a steaming pile!
4. Batman and Robin: total blasphemy.
5. Birdemic: same as the Room, but without Tommy Wiseau's nude cottage-cheese
6. Beaches: yeah, I said it.
7. Jason Goes to Hell: more blasphemy.
8. Teen Wolf Too: you'd puke, too.
9. Freddy Got Fingered
10. Santa with Muscles: Hulk Hogan playing himself

I-THE GODSON
II-MONSTERS
III- SHOWGIRLS
IV- SEXTETTE
V- GODZILLA '97
VI-ALIAS:STAR TREK
VII-SUPERMAN RETURNS
VIII-DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN
IX- OUT OF CREDULITY AFRICA
X- CRAMER VS CRAMER

I Eat Your Skin - insanely painful but I've grown to love it so I'm not sure if that counts.
Showgirls - no need to explain that one
Scream (1981) - worst. slasher. ever.
Lurkers - no what the hell was THIS supposed to be?
Nightmare Weekend - Troma flop.
Black Xmas - putrid pointless remake
Blood Cult - SOV nonsense
The Last Slumber Party - "QUEERBAG!"  :bouncegiggle:
Blood Lake - another SOV atrocity
Icy Death (aka Death Dimension) - quite typical Al Adamson. HORRID.

I will take my time with this.  I know you all know "WORST" does not necessarily mean "BAD" at all...

1. "IT'S ALIVE!" (1969) Directed by LARRY BUCHANAN.  Almost so BAD it's great, but, it's silly and ultimately BORING.

I'm not sure of any more... uhm...1953 ROBOT MONSTER???  THE SOUND OF MUSIC? GONE WITH THE WIND...? :teddyr:  I'll come back.   :bouncegiggle:

LAND OF THE LOST - I will personally kick Will Ferrell in the nads for what he did to my childhood in this awful, awful film!!!
He took something that was whimsical and innocent and threw it in the gutter, then peed on it for good measure.

One person's painful film experience might be quite different than another's. It's clearly a very subjective subject. I actually enjoy a lot of the bad movies listed by others from the past (think 30s through 90s, certainly not all though - I like Superman 3 and 4, Batman and Robin, Maniac, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Lifeforce, Spawn, Thin Red Line, Pumpkinhead, Halloween 5, Dune, Quintet, NeverEnding Story, Robot Monster, Moon of the Wolf, the Screaming Skull, Captain America (1990), etc.). I was in movie theaters where audiences walked out early on stuff like Man on the Moon and Eyes Wide Shut. To me, there was never anything worse to sit through than the "worst porno ever!" Bucky Larson but I know there are people who actually like it out there, believe it or not.

The Sound of Music is a special case to me. I actually like much of the music, understand the complexity and depth of the story, and admit that it is a very well done movie. And yet I'd still rather claw my way through a wall than sit and watch it. I've never been able to put my finger on why I feel this way, especially since I love a good musical.

Black Xmas - putrid pointless remake
Another one that was so detestable from every angle that I couldn't handle more than about 30 minutes. I mean it actually made me feel genuinely angry and p**sed off. Not even in a 'comparing it to the original' way.

I don't think I hate 10 movies as much as I hate Clerks 2. Others I really didn't like would be:

Leprechaun: The Origins
Hall Pass
Anger Management
Anchorman 2
Day Of The Dead Remake

Im with Halllows and Derf on this one-I can sing that wretched song-"the hills are alive...!" not because its good-because its like a McDonald's trap. What I mean is-it's like a commercial jingle that sticks in yer head even though you hate it.This movie has no value at all.
I will never finish watching GONE WITH THE WIND (out with my ass).TITANIC (Ill sink and die in the icy cold water first)-and I have no desire to see a Twilight movie-I can guarentee ( I cant spell that f**king word-Im a critic-not a writer) I will never see FIFTY SHADES OF COCK-I mean GREY.

I'm sure that if you could get me to watch it, I'd hate Freddy Got Fingered.  But you can't.  :D

There's a sort of movement to hating some movies, I think.  It sorta depends on what you were expecting.  I haven't watched Clerks 2, but I suspect that people who watched it were figuring it'd be enjoyable like the first.  And they really didn't get what they expected.   Now, if you watch Troll 2 or something like that, you know exactly what you're getting into.   I may be off, but at least for me some of my list came in like that.  (Similarly the Land of the Lost remake.)

Let me honorable mention Catwoman -- it was so blank that I really remember almost nothing about it.

My wife says that The Last Airbender sucked something awful, too.

Yeah, to me it's always about expectations. For instance, BUCKY LARSON has gotten consistently trashed by members here. But when I finally saw it I didn't think it was all that bad. Doubt I'd have felt that way if I knew nothing going in.

To be clear, my point was to say that I was surprised this was on HIS list...not in general.  If asked, I would have guessed he liked this movie.  My comment was about him specifically not liking a movie I thought (obviously incorrectly) that he liked.

I should replace one of my top ten with:
ALIEN RESURRECTION
What a dumpster fire.. it was one of 2 movies I saw in the theater that I really, really had a hard time putting up with and should have asked for my money back.
Not sure which movie to replace it with, but AR definitely is top 10.

As far as big-budget, blockbuster hits that were really awful, GANGS OF NEW YORK is one of my least favorite films of all time.
Way too long and not enough plot to cover the endless runtime!

I don't hate GONY but I had two major problems with it -- 1. the best part is the opening scene and 2. the villain is so much more compelling than the hero that I was left wondering what the point was.

Boy, that partial quote gets repeated a lot, and I was making a wisecrack.  Though, it's true.   I agree with Derf

ALAN, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA for me is Endlessly Watchable.   :teddyr:  Though I understand it's not for everybody.
Now that DANCES WITH WOLVES... do I really have to look at KEVIN COSTNER's ass...?     Is that supposed to be sexy... or, funny...???   Californian WHITE PEOPLE dream about being NATIVE AMERICAN.  That's hardly the worst movie I've ever seen, but damn, I hate it.

They really didn't change much.  One could actually make a "Worst Movies" list comprised entirely of movies by Friedberg and Seltzer and add in Epic Movie, Date Movie, Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans and Scary Movie.  In fact, the only movie they were involved in I actually liked was Spy Hard and I basically give that a pass due to the involvement of Leslie Nielsen and "Weird Al" Yankovic.

ARTHUR 2 blew gigantic chunks! Trace and I bought ARTHUR and the sequel together, and we both love the original, but we got about twenty minutes into the sequel and just couldn't take it anymore.

I don't think LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and DANCES WITH WOLVES are bad films, but they've said everything they had to say to me in the first go-round. Sadly, a lot of movies Trace really loves fall into this category, so whist she's digging BENNY AND JOON or STEEL MAGNOLIAS for the fifty-lebenth time, I'm sitting there wishing Richard Lynch would show up.

I caught part of this one night, back in the late 80's, on a Toronto station; the skip was just right. Before it faded out, I saw this musical number with Lou Rawls, and a bunch of people dressed up like Pilgrims, and some dude singing about how "fat women  need love too."

Took me YEARS to track down what it was....thought I was trippin'.

1. A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell 1990       2.2

A movie with barely any dialogue at all, extremely boring slow paced s**te. Good luck staying awake watching this   tripe.

2. Martians Go Home 1989       2.8

Horrible, pointless comedy starring Randy quaid (Dennis quaids non existent brother). A film so bad it was pulled from cinemas after a single day. As if that wasn't bad enough Rob Schneider rears his ugly head in this mess.

3. Alien Blood 1999          2.3

An ultra no budget movie with some of the worst editing I've ever seen, you can hear the camera men farting. Belching in certain scenes, really awful slow mess of a film with tons of recycled footage.

4. Black Friday 2001      3.3

Probably the most boring 'Action' movie I've ever seen. Gary Daniels sleep walks his way through about 3 action scenes with a 40 minute segment of which he sits on a bench and explains the ENTIRE plot in one of the most sleep inducing scenes of all time.

5. Pocket Ninjas 1997       1.5

Another Gary Daniels film, a complete mess from start to finish. I read somewhere this movie had seven different directors and boy does it show. Awful acting, script, fight scenes and Cobra Kahns massive chin.

6. Son of the Mask 2005       2.1

A grotesque movie, rancid as s**t. This is the only movie I've ever watched which has made me physically ill. Not funny, annoying, too f**king long and Jamie Kennedy couldn't act his way to the nearest toilet.

7. Paranormal Entity 3: The Exorcist Tapes 2011     3.0
Easily one of the most s**ttiest, cheapest poorly acted movies you will ever see in your life, complete exorcist rip off which comes off laughably bad. Has to be seen to be believed.

8. Future War 1997      1.7

Daniel 'I look a bit like Van Damme' Bernhardt leads in this f**king awful movie about dinosaurs invading earth or some s**t with some of the worst acting and story I've ever seen. No budget at all to this mess.

9. Howling 7 1995     1.8

Utter crap from start to finish. I think there's one actor in the entire film the rest are just residents of the town there in. Awful acting, script, plot and night time barn dancing, what more do you want. Also features one of the worst werewolf transformations in film history.

10. Attack Force 2006       2.7

To be honest you could put any Steven Seagal movie past 1998 in this list they all suck. Seagal got so f**king lazy with this film its laughable. Stunt doubles, stand ins, terrible plot, bad action, and the fat one was also dubbed on this movie as well. UTTER s**t

Honorable mentions

River of Darkness starring Kurt Angel
Assault of Darkness starring Vinnie Jones
The Tunnel starring Daniel Baldwin
Dracula 3000
Doctor Bones
Blood Dancers
Silicon Towers
Die Hard 4 starring that guy from Hudson Hawk

random list

1. Night of the Lepus - I don't see how this got released. the bunnies hopping by the toy farmhouse doesn't come close to working. It would be impossible for me to be stoned enough to look at that and think anything besides "stop"

2. Dondi - Why did they give him that ridiculous "cute" speaking style it's completely annoying and it never ends. The movie itself is garbage too. Who cares that he goes to New York

3. tintorera kill shark - stupid macho guys killing sharks. I remember actively disliking this

4 .A Good Day to Be Black & Sexy (2007) - very unsexy series of vignettes about black people trying to get their sex on in California.

5. C me Dance - an utter cataclysm. No one involved seems to have ever acted or written dialogue before. bends and breaks in previously unimaginable ways.

6. House at the End of the Street - You gotta love J Law but this is not even a quarter baked and phoned in to the hilt. If this had come free in a box of fruit loops in might have made sense

7. Body Rock - I actually kind of like this because it's so inauthentic and Lorzeno Lamas is in it. There's no hip hop on the soundtrack at all. included for cultural insensitivity and excessive goofiness

8. Juggernaught - supremely dull and formulaic disaster movie.

9. Skullduggery - horrendous "black comedy" that can't possibly be anything besides a tax shelter

10. Sadomaster- this was at one point the lowest rated movie on netflix. It's a very stupid and badly made spanish horror movie. the subtitles drop out all the time and it's just a joke but actually more watcheable than most of these

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lteZRzlD3hc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lteZRzlD3hc)

dishonorable mention

Private Valentine - Jessica Simpson deserves some kind of lifetime non achievement award. This is actually a sort of fun movie but she's terrible. she makes the other actors seem incredible though and she looks okay when she's just standing there.

DONT TAKE HER DOLLY.

First time I watched it my Dad rented it at the local video store. During the opening credits it said that it was made it Quebec or something. My mum saw that and was like "Oh f**k it's made in Quebec" she groaned. I enjoyed it back then but I was an impressionable kid and usually any horror movie despite how awful was cool by me. I usually looked for that majic moment where one scene could totally redeem an otherwise awful movie. Cathy's Curse was no exception. I dug the scene where somebody's lunch got all rotten and maggoty. I also like the scene where the old dude had tarantulas crawling all over him while he shakes violently like he's got severe alcohol withdrawal. "You dried up old whore!"  - that was pretty groovy too. But I watched it a couple of years back and was shocked about how hideous it was. RC - if I was fried out of my skull I'd probably think it was the most brilliant piece of filmmaking ever. But I was totally sober when I saw it then. I do think being totally s**tfaced and altered would definately help no doubt so maybe if I'm in the "right state of mind"  :teddyr: I'll give it another go.

LETHAL WEAPON 2
[Same as above: not all South Africans are racist, gun toting, drug and currency smugglers]

Actually what got my goat was that everyone saying they can't touch the bad guys because they have diplomatic immunity. Yes, with dip immunity you can't be charged with a crime, but you sure in hell can be kicked out the country - persona non-grata in official speak. Then having them go rogue and start killing cops was just piling on the stupidity.

1. Gingerdead Man vs Evil Bong - They don't even fight! You barely see the two apart from flashbacks and the acting is some of the worst.
2. Reno 911!: Miami - Painfully unfunny.
3. Freddy Got Fingered - Unfunny and extremely unpleasant.
4. Howling IV: The Original Nightmare - Only good scene was the melting werewolf transformation bit (served as an inspiration for one of my songs). Other than that, BORING!
5. Woodchipper Massacre - EXCRUCIATING acting.
6. Puppet Master: The Legacy - More of a clip show than a movie.
7. Future War - I liked the dino puppets, but this movie is dull. The acting is incredibly lifeless.
8. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - An insult to the franchise.
9. Paul - Not funny. Plus, admittedly due to me being religious, I was pretty annoyed/offended by the Christianity bashing. That's just me.
10. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers - I like slashers, but this was baaaaaaaaad.

I should add Shadows Run Black (1986). Mentioned it in the weird 80s slasher thread. GODAWFUL excuse for a slasher. Pretty much and 80s SOV film would qualify too (see: Blood Lake).

2. MARY POPPINS (1964) I only saw this on a TV broadcast.  That was around 30 years ago.  I have not seen it since.  I grew up with an album of Disney movie songs and knew the songs in this movie well enough.  I didn't like the songs especially, but as for the movie: I hated it.  I kind of expected to.  I was too old to see it and any "magic" was lost on me.  Having seen most of the great DISNEY animations well past the time I might have most appreciated them, I LOVED all of them anyway.  I made a point to finally look at this film because of those other works, this flick was an obviously missing part of my movie viewing.  Did I say I hated it?

I can't believe I forgot to add MIDNIGHT (1981) to my list, but which one do I take off to make room??  I'll have to go back and look..

Also, I remember hating a SUPER obscure flick called Cotton Pickin' Chicken Pickers (1967).. one of the dumbest comedies I'd ever seen.

As far as painful movies go it'd be hard to remember because I usually try to erase them from my memory...lets see

1. Eight crazy nights (I want to hurt this movie, but I can never hurt it the way it hurt me.)
2. Fun in balloonland
3. Foodfight
4. Anything by Tyler Perry.
5. The whole ("insert genre here" movie) franchise.
6. The room, though some parts were so bizarre as to incite laughter as im sure you all know.
7. Robot vs. Aztec Mummy
8. The girl in lovers lane
9. Baby geniuses
10. Saw or The butterfly Effect it's kind of a tie.

I have a soft spot for this one, as it, along with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, was among my first "Holy Grails" of bad movies, back before video tapes were easily accessible. The title alone made me want it, and, yes, it is an annoying movie in a lot of ways, but it's just so bizarre that I can't help but like it.

One I forgot to mention is Meet the Feebles. I really wanted to like it. I had enjoyed Bad Taste, and I adore still Dead/Alive, but MtF makes me feel like my soul needs a shower.

Yeh, I think some people might remember those yearly Saturday afternoon broadcasts fondly.  And I mean that was a TV staple at Xmas time in the 70s.  SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS is the supreme example why many BAD movies are NOT entertaining.
In the case of this one, it ranks with torture.   :bouncegiggle:

I liked Top Gun just because it's so 80's and everyone in it is so normal. It's like that popular kid in your school who was actually kind of cool and not a jerk.

also Cruise was much better cast than he was in Cocktail, which is painful to watch. He's gets too excited and happy and it's just weird. I've never seen Independence Day

I love America too-but not to the point that I'm gonna let any moron who waves a flag make me feel that I'm un-American because I question morons who wave flags.
America was built upon the concept of questioning the people in power-and dammit-Im an American.
BUT-before Im an American-or any goddam country loyalty-I live on planet EARTH! Im an EARTHLING! I could give a f**k less about political affiliations.

I'd like to add another:

Friday the 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan - I can forgive the whole issue with not having enough money to shoot more footage in New York, but why couldn't they use places like Vancouver to fill in some city scenes? The characters are lame even by slasher standards, some scenes are kinda dull, the kills suck and Jason's unmasked design is easily the worst he's looked. In the previous movie, his unmasked face was badass! Here, he practically looks comical!

I think I saw this on tv as a  youngster. Is this is the one where Jason magically teleports when someone is about to find him? That movie I saw way back than turned me off horror films until the mid2000s.

Yeah, Jason pulls at least one teleportation trick in this one.  Soooo stupid.

^ 8 is bad; but 9 is far, far worse.

I'm one of the few who actually likes Jason Goes to Hell. Yes, it's pretty stupid but I do find it enjoyable. That's just me.  :tongueout:
There were some enjoyably nasty kills (often involving splitting someone in half), but the whole plot device of Jason's heart possessing people and Jason looking for his never-before-mentioned sister, and having a slithering Jason worm-thing enter her to reanimate Jason was beyond stupid.  Even for this series!

Before anyone wonders why there are no classic "bad movies" on this list ie Plan 9, Manos, etc.,  it is because I like those kind of movies. To me, "worst" means I don't like them, so here are some movies I have watched all the way through and didn't like.

1. Eat The Rich:  The Cannibal Murders  (Imagine a bunch of dumb high school kids with a video camera trying to ape the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and you have this movie.  The thing is, it's not a bunch of kids trying to make a movie.  It's a grown-up film director Ron Atkins churning out really boring crap with worse-than-bad acting.  The jokes arent even funny.  Herschell Gordon Lewis knew how to do this kind of stuff the right way, but this guy makes grisly, gory movies that will put you to sleep.  In a way, I guess that is quite a talent.)

2. Van Helsing  (The first 5 minutes or so were promising and very Universal horrorish.  Then it plunged headlong into Hollywood action movie stupidity.)

3. Star Wars  (Never liked it or any of its sequels.)

4. The Dark Knight  (I have not liked any of the Batman movies except for the one with Adam West.  Christian Bale is the worst Batman I have ever seen, even though Ledger was the second best Joker.)

5. 2016:  Obama's America  (I'm not an Obama fan, but this documentary was really stupid!)

6. Shakespeare in Love  (Went with a chick who wanted to see it.  I thought I would like it too, since I like Shakespeare.  Hated it.)

7. Godzilla (Matthew Broderick)

8. Godzilla Raids Again (It pains me to have to put a Japanese Godzilla flick on this list, but hoo boy what a snoozefest this one is)

9. King Kong (Jack Black)  (almost forgot this travesty)

10.  Star Trek: Into Darkness  (Very disappointing to me.  The second movie with this cast and they have already run out of new ideas.  Also, Cumberbatch was miscast as Khan, since all the other main characters resemble and sound like their original series counterparts.)
