I seriously want a new job.  They say you gotta know people to get jobs, and I only know you all, so.. can any of you get me a job?
 
I’m doing well where I am now, but so many things have changed and I feel like it’s time for me to go while I’m ahead.  I don’t really want to continue to work in an office setting. I want to do something more adventurous!  Though, if any of you need a personal secretary, I’m totally up for it!  I’ve only looked online but so far there aren’t many postings for what I’m looking for.  I’ve looked up interior painter, florist, tour guide, antique shops, private detective agencies and random art jobs and there’s almost nothing around here. 

If anyone wants to start a circus sideshow, I have gained about 10 pounds and I have this one hair on my chin that keeps coming back so I can just roll with it and in a few short months I can be a bearded fat lady! 

I also have this great idea for board game prostitution!  I would set up a fancy little table on the corner with board games and “holla” at people walking by to see if they want to have a good time, playing board games of course, and charge by the hour – there’s an extra charge if  you want me to let you win.  I only play trivia games, Pictionary, and maybe scrabble.  I don’t work weekends or evenings.  My husband doesn’t like this idea.

What I really want to do is catalog antiques for an eccentric millionaire, but I think that job only existed in Monster Club.

Anyone got any ideas??

I have been a film archivist for nearly 26 years and I still enjoy it: in fact, I actually like coming to work. My advice to you is: if you're doing good, stay where you are. It means stability as far as finances go and you can't wish for more than that.  :smile:

How about being a driver for Uber?  I bet you would meet a lot of "interesting" people . . . and maybe some of them would be into board game prostitution.

You know, the kind of thing you want really does stem from just talking to people.  Very few "interesting person wanted" ads out there.  Plus none of teh cool stuff really pays anything a body can live on (I was looking into science exhibit design at the local museum) So you are on the right track for finding something but talking to folks.
If I think of something I'll drop a line.

Kidding,my dear-I hate my job-I collect antiques-to own an antique shop is my dream.
If you lived in Michigan-we could pool our resources and make it happen-I wish-I just own a lot of real old stuff as it is...but its a good dream .

Thanks for all the advice!  I'm now considering being a ghost hunter in the winter and a bigfoot hunter in the summer.  That's never going to happen, but it's the best idea I've had today.



I would, but I don't actually "like" what I do.  I've been there so long because I really cared about the people I worked with.  A lot of people have left and I just looked up a realized no one that I care about is there anymore!  Kind of sad really..



I don't drive  :bluesad:.  I have a license, but I've maybe driven 2 hours in my whole life and nearly killed my husband with fear in that short time.



Perhaps if my "bigfoot in the summer" idea pans out I can actually make real bigfoot porn!  Yeah!..
