Title: DON'T BLINK (2014)
Post by: indianasmith on April 06, 2015, 12:10:54 AM
This was one of the coolest, and creepiest things I have seen in a long time.
A group of eight friends drive up for a weekend at a mountain resort, looking forward to some fun hanging out, hiking, drinking by the fire, and maybe some midnight rendezvous with one another.
When they arrive at the lodge, it is empty.  All the guests are gone - purses still by their chairs, food still on the table, water still running on one faucet, and the burners on the stove still on.  Not a trace of anyone.  As they look around, trying to solve the mystery, our heroes begin disappearing one at a time.  No explanation, no rhyme, no reason.  They're just gone.

A masterpiece of creeping suspense that builds steadily until the very last scene, this is an amazing film! All the cast did a great job; it's really interesting to see how the characters responded in an utterly inexplicable situation. The final pair are both simply amazing in their absolute seriousness - their reactions completely believable. I don't know why IMDB has it rated so low, but I will give DON'T BLINK a 5/5!

Yeah I saw that a while back and really enjoyed it.  Great exploration of the concept of fear.

that sounds sort of like Exam. A big company has a group interview and the applicants are handed a blank piece of paper and given an hour to answer a question they have to somehow discover.

I saw that on Netflix a couple of months ago. It was a decent watch. The cast was an interesting mix of d-listers (Brian Austin Green) and "shoulda-woulda-coulda's" (Mena Suvari)... it was nice to see Joanne Kelly of "Warehouse 13" again too.

Nah, this one wasn't for me. I didn't like the characters and was looking forward to them getting knocked off, but when they did it was disappointing (apart from one). On a whole I thought it was pretty dull. Each to their own I guess.
