Apparently there were rumours all week that this was a hoax - sadly, not so.  Must have been because they delayed the news being made public.

The last of the actors I grew up idolising when the BBC used to run old horror movies on Friday and Saturday nights. R.I.P and thanks.

The first film I ever saw him in was Horror Express - I saw this on TV when I was a pre teen and I loved it.

This is really sad news.  :bluesad:

A courageous veteran of World War Two, a remarkable actor, a mentor to many in his craft, even a heavy metal legend . . .

he was a man for all seasons.

you know what's sad other than him passing away of course. i was at work today and a friend of mine said he passed away i said WHAT? i didn't believe it or rather didn't want to believe it. and nobody at my table this was during lunch by the way knew who he even was! i tried to say Count Dooku but i don't think anyone knew who i was talking about, it's like i was talking a different language and it just saddens me that they have no clue who he even is!

Not two days ago I was watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and wondered to myself how many years he had left in him.  I should've been thinking in terms of days.

RIP to a great actor.

Dude, it was Gene Wilder's birthday not his death. He's still alive and kicking.
Btw, happy birthday Gene may you stay forever young.

I think Ash was probably watching Lee in CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (2005), not WILLY WONKA...

Bela Lugosi.
Boris Karloff.
They were dead by the time I was 8 years old-I watched Vincent Price,Peter Cushing...and Christopher Lee.
And beyond Barbra Steele-thats it.It's done.
The last of the REAL horror icons are dead.
I grew up-watching Lee,Price and Cushing on movies-Karloff died when I was 7-but I seen these guys on the big screen.
Now the last is dead.
I love you Christopher Lee.

Childhood ends.
