What are some various minor annoyances that occur in life every once in a while that bug you?

Here's some little things that bug me:
A splinter in your sock.
Finding a ripped fingernail and trying to tear it off yourself.. with slightly bloody results (ouch!).
A canker sore WAY back in the mouth in a place that's kind of hard to reach but you feel it practically every time you talk or move your mouth.
When people say "whatevs".
A nerve that jumps in your foot or eye while you're trying to sleep.

What little things annoy you?

When people don't use their turn signals.

Able-bodied people who take the elevator up one floor when you are rushing or running late.

When you order food, tell people which condiments you want, and when you get home, there is no condiment there at all.

Condescending women (or people in general).

When people serve food that isn't properly cooked.

Pain that really never goes away - constant aches and pains.

Cashiers who chat on their phones and don't even say hello to customers they serve.

People smoking outside public building entrances.

Taxes on top of taxes on items, particularly gas.

(Really serious)
Humans lack of consideration about long-term consequences. (E.g., just look around)

Some people total lack of logic, reason, acceptance of evidence, or even basic facts. (E.g., Glenn Beck)

People losing their cool in front of irrelevant facts. (E.g., pretty much all the road rage, extreme examples include ethic wars)

How stupid Graphical User Interfaces can be, I am using mainly Linux those days and seldom I wonder if the GUI writer ever tried it once...

When the bill's perforated tearing edge is about 1/8" away from where they fold the bill, making it nearly impossible to tear as intended.

Tattoos in general.

When people look at my life's work, shrug, and say "I don't read books."

Bugs flying into my nose or eye.

Hair in my mouth.

Dental floss that breaks off in my teeth.

Ants in/around the house.

People that talk too damn much.

My sister's condescending behavior.

The government aiding worthless/lazy people.

A favorite team constantly being mediocre year after year; often rattling off a win streak to spin false hopes and ultimately stinking it up again.

Excessive dog drool getting on everything.

Services that don't seem expensive until you see the bill.

People who are oblivious to everything going on around them.  The whole world revolves around them and they'll take their damned time - yet if they ever get stuck behind someone who's slower than they are, they'll be the first to complain.

The way everybody on video game forums acts like they're 12 years old.

Science "news" sites that take the wildest speculation, pile it on top of even more wild speculation, and call it a "theory".  There's a difference between getting high and daydreaming vs. formulating a theory.

Constant niggling interruptions that, at the end of the day, have made it impossible to get anything accomplished.

People whose opinions come soley from the newspapers they read.

Anyone trying to push their religion on me.

Chuggers (Charity Muggers, the people who get paid rather than volunteering to collect money for charities. I once signed up to support a cancer research charity with monthly donations and found out after to my disgust that the first £200 I donated would go to paying the company that got me to sign up).

And worst of all, people leaving dishes in the sink not stacked neatly.

Humans.

Yeah I pretty much agree about the turn signals.  I keep posting pictures of that funny looking stick thing on the side of my steering wheel to FB in the hopes that people will realize its there for a reason.  Cops don't even use their turn signals here.

People who can't figure out how to drive around a guy riding a bicycle on the side of the road.

In 2005 when I was stuck in a boring, boring hotel room in a boring, boring Texas town a bit too far from the delights of Austin with a lotta time on my hands and a tornado watch outside, I once made a 22-page list in longhand chronicling many of life's annoyances. I entitled "Buncha s**t That Sucks" and I still have that little masterpiece today.

From page one:

God isn’t your witness; oversleeping; clothes come out of dryer with “musty” smell; your roommate uses your hairbrush; rabid-looking stray dog s**ts on your lawn; bad hair weeks; boyfriend reminisces a bit too fondly about former girlfriend’s ‘killer rack’; buying rotten bananas; broken hot water heater; biting your tongue while eating tasteless three-bean casserole at a church supper; slicing open your leg while shaving in the shower when you’re in a hurry and have to wear a dress that day; breakfast cereals cost too f**king much; migraine headache sufferer won’t shut up about seeing ‘lights’; getting ‘sexiled’ by your roommate; someone eats the white stuff out of every Oreo in the box and leaves the cookies licked on and staring you in the face; whacking holy hell out of your toe while walking to the bathroom late at night; sitting through your bud’s bulls**t UFO story that grows more elaborate every time he tells it; doing genealogy research and finding out your ancestors were stupid hillbillies; dude who won’t shut the hell up about how he has given up watching television; some douchebag gives you a wedgie while you’re throwing up; boyfriend collects action figures at age twenty; ‘technical’ virgins who brag they’re saving themselves; you hold off dating your roommate’s ultra-hot, newly-single brother because you don’t want to damage your friendship, then a month later she moves out anyway; being convinced invisible sharks live in swimming pools; while seeing it with snake handlers you find The Passion of the Christ hilarious; European toilet paper; telling your blabby Irish cousin you made out with an English guy; the python has Fluffy’s leash hanging out its mouth; your Jewish fiance’s mother explains that she likes you but ‘dear, you’re just not one of us’; teacher refuses to pronounce your name right; the IRS auditor is the boy you wouldn’t give the time of day to your senior year; book store manager reminds you “this isn’t a public library”.

Yup, lottttta time on my hands that day...

Just got a new kitten that never stops meowing unless he's asleep. He's a little thing and he annoys me.  :thumbdown:

It annoys me when a passenger on a public bus stands up near the front doors just so that they can blab with the bus driver.  Sit the hell down!

It also annoys me when people bring their family to work-- on a non-"bring your kid to work" day.  Or worse, their pet!

People that want to force things about their private/family life on me.  "This is my baby!  She just turned 3!  Wanna see a picture of my dog?"  I don't care!

The one person who is driving slowly in front of you in one lane and then turns into the lane you went into to go around him.

Doing homework online, since the questions are asked in a disjointed way.

CADD programs crashing on a very capable computer.

Cyclist blowing through stop signs and blaming the car driver for not slowing down in time.

Car drivers who run down cyclists.

Taxi drivers who run stop signs and nearly causes accidents.

Wut? What is the difference?

Oh yeah, the "I took 50 near-identical pictures of my newborn granddaughter - look at them look at them!!!" people. 

Nothing really annoys me any more-I get real p**sed-or I dont-not much in between.
I just kinda float threw life amused at all sortsa dumb s**t-but some things I find hard to ignore

You know those rough, slightly stiff paper towels you dry your hands on in American restrooms? European toilet paper is a lot like that.

Ahh, that's the stuff they stock in high school bathrooms all across America.
"Chuck Norris Toilet Paper" - it's rough, tough, won't take s*** of anybody, and you have to know karate to tear it!

At least most of the places in western Europe now have the western style toilets.  I've been far enough east into Turkey to run into ones like this.

My friend who lived in Europe for 3-4 years got used to it and now he can't stand American toilet paper.

My pet peeve of the day is one most of you can't relate to directly, but you've probably had similar situations.

Frequently studios or distributors will contact me with offers for screeners or interviews. About half the time they don't respond back when I express interest. I sort of understand this in some of the larger cases, where I'm just on a huge mailing list that they sent out, but every now and then someone will actually take the time to fill out my contact form and write a nice letter to me directly, then not follow through sending the screeners when I accept their offer.

I have so many things wrong with me that I try not to let much worry me, other than my health but there are a few things that really annoy me.

1. People attempting to push in at a queue at the bank or just at a queue anywhere. My normal reply to these people is "The queue starts behind me."
2. Inconsiderate drivers and those who hog the road.
3. TV programs where the hosts and the guests talk over one other to get their respective points across.
4. Clients who are difficult: believe me when I say I have my fair share of those.
5. Non recognition at work: after 26 years, I should be used to it but I'm not.
6. Idiots who talk smack about my country.

In the recent flap over the Confederate flag, I have been HUGELY annoyed by some of the pure misinformation and BS being posted on social media.  One dude on my FB feed posted "Fifty Little Known Facts About the South and the Civil War" and virtually every ONE of them was either pure falsehood or else it was a half truth presented in a misleading way!  Have none of these idiots ever heard of primary source research?

It should be up to the people who live in South Carolina to decide by majority if the Confederate battle flag ought to keep flying above their statehouse---that's how democracy, in theory, works---but it is increasingly annoying me that society is trying to attack the rights to free expression of anyone driven for whatever to display Confederate symbols on their private property or individual person. If they want to be alienated by their own choice, let them. As my Jewish friend said not long ago when we were passed downtown by a skinhead with a swastika tattooed on his head, "He's mostly hurting himself."

Slavery was legal in much of the north at times past, and in Connecticut until 1848. Also after the (Dred) Scott v. Sandford decision (another of the Supreme Court's misery-generating displays of judicial imprudence) there were at any given time significant numbers of enslaved peoples residing with their owners in northern states, with Saratoga Springs, New York, a spa popular among wealthy southerners escaping summer heat, said during peak vacation times to be as much as 1/10th populated by slaves. (Though that figure could be Henry Ward Beecher's hyperbole.)

There's also the irony that while the Confederate flag flew over slavery or about four years, the American flag flew for ninety years over a nation where slavery was constitutionally legal.

History is messy.

Of course, but not at the time of the Civil War! The guy's quote was "Com e on you people do you think everyone in the south had slaves and they would go to war to keep there slaves?Buy the way there were slaves in the north too."

People who think they are "entitled" but don't know or simply ignore their own stupid actions.

The fact that Google Chrome doesn't have a "fit to page" option in their print window.  What I see in "print preview" is a few lines longer than what actually prints, which sort of sucks when the total for the page is on one of the missing lines  :hatred:

A barrage of half-sneezes.  OUT WITH IT!

Wasp nests. (none for the last few years though.. thank God)

Movie ticket and concession prices.

Knee or shin contusion.  OUCH!

Neighbors who don't leash their dogs outside at night (and therefore go after my dog when I walk her).

Food that seems to go bad even before the expiration date.

Burning the roof of your mouth on hot pizza. Turns a pleasure into an annoyance.

Youtube trolls are the worse, I think commenters on Gawker sites like Jezebel/Gizmodo/Kotaku are the absolute worse.

Tactlessness disguised as honesty.

YouTube trolls are f**king with you for one reason or another. This guy actually believes this s**t.

Last week as I was in line to see the new Jurassic Park film, this choadbag came streaming out of the theater down the hall where an earlier showing had just wrapped, and as he passed us, knowing full well what we were waiting to see, he screamed, "Hey, losers, the movie ends with...." And he really told us how it ended!!!

Which is to say I find it annoying that it was illegal to mace that guy where he stood and then kick him a few times in the equatorial region while he was writhing with eye pain.

Leg cramps when you want to sleep (they're mighty painful usually too).

When your foot or hand falls asleep and you gets those stinging pins and needles as you try and reawaken your hand or foot.

I'm ashamed to say that, as I walked out of the theater past the huge line of people waiting to get in and see it, I looked at my wife and said very loudly:  "I still can't believe the T-Rex killed Dumbledore!"

Like this girl I knew in the late '90s from "Danviss, Mass" whom my former boyfriend inexplicably found (ahem) date-able. She was holding court one night at no less hallowed a place than Taco Bell, talking with nacho-powered vigor about how it made her ashamed to be an American because Columbus killed off "billions" of native peoples.

I let the "billions" figure go but pointed out that Columbus' visits happened almost three-hundred years before this country was even founded and six generations before an English-speaking population existed in North America, but no, she didn't let those facts get in the way of a perfectly good excuse to kvetch about her nation.

Then she went on about Dances With Wolves, which she saw in middle school, and how the displacement of the Sioux shown on screen made her want to renounce her citizenship.

I said yes, a tragedy (that she didn't renounce her citizenship) but did she know that a generation before Dances With Wolves the Sioux moved west from present-day Minnesota and through war violently displaced other people from the land they occupied at the time of DWW? Or that the Comanche regarded all other people as their enemies, and were absolutely genocidal in their policies? Or that the Apache....

That was as far as she let me get, her nachos were getting soggy by that point and the joint she'd hit in the restroom was starting to pacify her, but my point was survival of the fittest isn't pretty, no group has a monopoly on cruelty, and she would have been better served studying the things she thought she knew.

(Plus I just didn't like her.)

When people (specifically youngsters) who criticize a movie call the special FX "graphics". That's a term for videogames, morons!  :hatred:

Every few months Netflix logs me out of my account and I have to sign in again on my TV.  They got hacked a while ago, so my password is now a really long string of random alpha numeric characters.  That I have to enter using the arrow buttons on my TV remote control.

I have a similar one.  Pencils that don't sharpen well to begin with.  I got a box of them a while ago-and it seems every one of them I try to sharpen the first time-the graphite breaks just leaving me with a pointy stick.  And it ever seems to get it right.

Those KFC commercials with that hideous singing Colonel Sanders revenant. Unbearable.

Maps that show landmasses out of proportion, making Greenland the size of North America.

When people who don't believe in Islam call Mohammad "the Prophet Mohammad". I understand honorary titles, dubbing a retired civic leader "Mayor" years after she left office, for instance, but a prophet is someone with a direct line of communication with God. If someone believes Mohammad was talking to God, and that God told him to compose a book, line by line, that told humankind how to pray, what to think, how to act, then by all means convert to Islam. But if someone casts a dubious gaze on that claim, then that person shouldn't be disingenuous and put the word "prophet" in front of Mohammad's name. Either you think Mohammad was spoken to by God, or you do not. There is no halfway.  "Prophet" is too huge a title to grant a person unless one thinks it truly applies.

Rocks in your shoes.
People in customer service that screw up your order/directions and don't apologize when you get them to fix it. (or they refuse to fix it)
A runny nose.
Slovenly roommates.
When your dog poops in the house.
Computer brain farts.
People blasting music at odd hours of the night.
Gross vegetables being put in otherwise normal dishes.
Family drama/soap opera.. I have my own life to worry about, thanks.
People that assume they know all about you and have you figured out completely.

Auto-correct.
When my foot/leg falls asleep.
Buses that arrive early when you're late and late when you're early (I'm looking at you especially, bus 201).
People who say that bassists who use a pick aren't real bassists.
Guitar snobs who turn their nose up when I mention I use an Epiphone Les Paul. To hell with what they think! If I like how it sounds/feels, I'm gonna use it.
Scratches on discs.
Humidity.

That was my decision for the bass I got, the other one was too tech-savvy for me and the last one was too thick. Still better than Dry Bones.
I too hate it when the discs I got have scratches, a major reason why I use digital (that and I listen to strange stuff that would cost too much to order from Amazon)
I live in a humidity city, I hate it for two resons- a) it gets too damn hot here and 2) flying roaches.

When people put salt on their food before they even taste it.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about those little horrors. That's one thing I don't miss about Southeast Texas. Here in Louisville the bugs are just minor annoyances, not the stuff of nightmares.

When you conclusively prove someone wrong in a debate, and they respond by calling you names . . . .

When I'm driving and can't find a song on the radio I like, and then one comes on that I do like-just as I'm arriving at my destination.

I'm not really, super annoyed by any of these, but these are things that. I wish just didn't... you know, exist, happen, whatever word it is that goes with what I listed.

People who try to justify pedophilia.

Bugs that bug, like mosquitoes, ticks, bed bugs, etc.

Drivers.

Money

The economy.

Sociopaths.

Sadists.

Pit bulls.

Fruit fly infested fruit.

Squirrels that are murderous against all plant-life.

When people make "jokes" about serious causes, like ebola, the holocaust, 9/11, etc.

An item you want on Mandarake turns out to be sold.

Ants moving in the house.

Terrible administrators on Sven Co-Op servers that are well-respected by others.

When people can only make opinions off of newspapers or Fox News.

Gratuitous sex scenes in movies, TV shows, and... yes... video games too, sadly.

That one, thorny vine (the plant!) that just so happens to love your pants, and attach to it.

Condescension.

Ignorance.

Narcissism.

People who use 'scientific theory' as the answer to everything. It's still a theory, idgit!

People repeatedly asking what my first name is.

People who think they're so special, and start a conversation, standing in the middle of the road. Not moving.

Money...

Well, greedy, rich people are typically ignoramuses. Not to mention, the whole idea of money is an annoyance anyways.

lol... Whoever said "Money cannot buy happiness" - well... that person was never poor!

Money cannot buy happiness . . . but it can buy expensive toys that make everybody else jealous, and that's almost as good!

Best cure for jealous is to get the originator of the jealousy jealous. Thought that means you need to buy bigger and better expensive toys!


HMMM... thinking deeper about this... jealousy could be a way to get this economy back up!  :wink:

Having to rely on people to do what they're supposed to do, and then realizing after doing your part, they don't hold up their end of the bargain. Very annoying.

Also, having every single woman I have had an interest in romantically or positive connection with in the last 5 years having to leave the city, state, or country for various family bs or outside circumstances. This is also highly annoying. I feel I've met a kindred spirit, someone I get along with and respect, and view as a potential companion to settle down with, and...nope. Why should you be happy?
