Title: A 25 cent fuse stops my car functioning?
Post by: Trevor on June 22, 2015, 02:12:04 AM
I put  :teddyr: because I was really silly here.

My heater / blower / aircon in my car stopped working last Tuesday and I left it until the weekend to check it, thinking it was something major but not stopping the car from going well. Imagine my surprise when I checked the fuse box (the last thing I did) and found one of them had melted. ZAR 2.50 (25c) later, I am now nice and toasty in the mornings here.

It's always a nice feeling when you think you're going to be out several hundred dollars for a car repair to have it instead be something simple that can be fixed for fairly little money.

Yup, been there once ore twice.
Mostly had the windshield wiper fuze blow when it snowed.
I once had this 1980 Kawasaki KZ750E that broke down in front of a muffler shop. I asked if they could take a look at it, & right away, they looked in the fuse box. Sho' 'nuff, for all the different fuses to all the different widgets, the entire electrical system was riding on a single dime fuse from the early '70s. Someone fixed it with the foil wrapper from a pack of cigarettes, & I was Off!

Agreed: I still can't believe that this 30 amp fuse caused the issues:

It's actually a great way of securing older cars that don't have alarms, take out the fuse for the fuel pump or whatever when you park your car. I saw a fuse for ABS the other day, even though I'm sure my model never came with it.. either the box is used in multiple car models, or I've just not had any ABS ever because some guy forgot to put a fuse in there LOL
