Here's a tough one, I haven't been able to find/remember for years. Details are spotty but hopefully someone can find it.

What I remember close to 100%:

I saw the movie in the mid-2000's, 2004-2005, around 3am on a movie channel (wasn't HBO or Showtime, was like Starz or Cinemax), it was shown in HD and it was 'new' (came out same year or maybe a year before I saw it, putting it in the mid-2000's) ... It was 100% a movie and not a show or episode that was part of a series/show. It was standalone movie.

Main characters are a dad, his new gf/wife, son (step son) who's in his 20's but probably was playing a high schools senior, and a daughter, grade school girl.

'Something' possesses them and/or controls them and/or makes them do stuff they don't know they're doing. step mom makes out with step son in the kitchen at one point. dad tries to kill everyone (I believe the ending?), either the dad or possible the bed (ha, i know i know) attacks the daughter and the brother saves her.

The dad and step mom work at some secret lab (can't remember what's in the lab but obviously it's the cause of everything).

The house they move to and live in for the movie is where most of the scenes take place, it's a single story house with the kitchen in the front of the house and a bunch of scenes take place in their kitchen where you can look out the front window, kitchen leads to a screen door that goes outside into carport (remember a scene where animal/possibly family dog was 'possessed' and going crazy and they closed that door) ...

Things I think I remember but don't let it sidetrack you: construction equipment behind the house in a gravel pit that also got "possessed" (or maybe the dad was using them?) ... the movie title being one to three words long (I remember scrolling through the guide, seeing the title and it seemed 'normal' and I'm pretty sure I remember being surprised it was in HD since not everything had moved over to HD then / mid-2000's, closer to early than late 2000's) ... Believe the house was off of a highway also, it wasn't near any neighbors or anything, it may have been next to the secret lab the parents worked at?

I don't want to say aliens and get people thinking that and maybe my use of "possessed" is the wrong word, since they didn't turn into demons or anything, the dad turned into someone trying to kill his family, the step mom and step son turned into attracted to eachother for a minute of the film then after they looked at eachother like they didn't know why that just happened, and the little girl was definitely attacked in a bedroom near/at the end of the film.

Anyways, this is something that likely got a one time run on Starz/Cinemax at 3am one night, I never saw it on the guide again and forgot about it until a couple years back and haven't been able to find it. Have posted on similar sites to this, and I believe I even posted here in 2012 or so but I couldn't find the thread and I had confused people then by throwing out too many potential things I remember (think I even thought about giant spiders at one point, which was NOT in this movie, ha) ...

Thanks for any help. Not a mainstream movie, not a known movie, have to dig deep to find this one.

Weird paintings?

No idea, can't remember anything else than the original post (and even some of that is a little guessing) ... the house itself I do remember was one story, not a big house (doubt there were any paintings), no stairs, most of the scenes at the house were from the kitchen with was connected to a carport and had a window looking out to the front of the house.

I'm trying to shy away from using the word "possessed" because that gets us thinking something totally different but what happened was 'something' made them act different (e.g. dad trying to kill family, step-son making out with step-mom) but their physical appearance didn't change nor did anything enter their bodies in terms of demons or ghosts or anything.

Sorry I can't remember more.

I'm pretty sure the dad and step-mom worked at a secret lab or facility though and something from there was the cause. What the cause was, can't remember, at all.
