One interesting scene, which we'll get to later, but . . .?! Without even seeing it yet, there are a couple of things that put me off.
1st. It's supposedly a horror comedy. EASY to do, but . . .?! HARD to do WELL. 2nd. While the actors playing the scouts seem to be young enough to be a scout, the actual ages of actors makes them too old to be a scout. That takes me out of the film. Scout shorts Having been in the scouts myself at one time, the 3rd most revealing garment at revealing what a boy is thinking. Superseded by only the . . . Swimmers' speedo Which is why a lot of boys drop out of competitive swimming, when they reach puberty, and . . . Ballet tights Which is why a lot of boys don't take up ballet, despite the benefits. As for the scene . . . One of the scouts is talking to a pretty girl outside of the store. She glances down and laughs. He glances down and blushes. The camera pans down and . . . nothing is seen, but . . . ?! What would a bolder director, such as Ken Russell, make of this scene, as it reminds me of that scene in his "Lair of the White Worm," where the villainess has picked up a scout, who has been thumbing for a ride in the rain, and while they are in her car together, to seduce him, she pulls back her skirt, revealing the top of her nylons and her garter belt. I can imagine, there'd have been a stronger stirring in his scout shorts followed by a prominent protrusion and protuberance. At least, Russell was bold enough, unlike in this film, to actually use an actor young enough to be a scout. And we shall see what we shall see.
