The seller cut R200 ($20) off the price so I bought it yesterday.

I just sold a Dell netbook for $26 USD on ebay not too long ago.  It still works though I did not include an operating system - I ran kill disk on the hard drive and left it blank.  If the buyer wants an operating system he'll have to throw a new one on there.

get a raspberry pi

also old random PCs are way better if you whack a lightweight linux OS on them (actually who am I kidding, pretty much any computer). Sounds like some of the hardware was nuked on yours though. If you do want a workstation though for some reason instead of getting a Pi try and get them from an office or a college, they have to chuck out pretty reliable hardware for no particular reason apart from contract.

I would actually like to nuke the person who sold it to me but it is working now.
