Title: Harbinger Down (2015)
Post by: SynapticBoomstick on November 19, 2015, 09:09:02 PM
A horror movie done with an eye for Aliens and The Thing, Harbinger Down goes back to the roots of "trapped with a monster" films. Present day: A crabbing ship takes on a team of researchers tracking Beluga whale movements in Alaskan waters when they find the remnants of a crashed Soviet space craft locked in ice. What unfolds is a mix of memorable characters and excellent practical effects work with splashes of CG that add to rather than detract from the presentation. The origin for the monster is also really interesting and even theoretically probable if you want to be a little imaginative.

5/5, I had a very good time with this movie, just what I needed. Lance Henriksen delivers a great performance as Captain Graff, also look out for little nods and easter eggs throughout the film to the aforementioned titles.

Netflix streaming!

I was going to include a trailer but each one that I found revealed more than I thought a trailer was supposed to, which I didn't like. Go into this movie like I did, knowing next to nothing, that's the best way.
