Title: ET HORROR MOVIE
Post by: Quadrophenia on December 26, 2015, 10:28:42 AM
Back in the 80s a friend told me of an ET (Spielbergs classic) parody film that was available in the local video hire shop. He said it was brilliantly funny so I went to the store to check it out. Sure enough there was the video that was trying desperately to look like the ET cover. It had an outstretched finger but instead of ET's glowing finger it showed a finger/claw dripping with blood. I hired the VHS film only to find it was not a parody of ET but instead a poorly made 60s B movie. The only part of the film I recall was the obligatory girl running away from the monster through a forest whilst constantly tripping over. Can anyone help me with the name of this film? I know it's not much to go on but I'm hoping the fact that it was so obviously trying to associate itself with Spielbergs ET that it might be well known. Many thanks

After a day of going insane and researching on the internet I have found the film in question. The movie is called Night Fright and was first released in 1967. It was then re-released in the 80s with an ET looking poster in an attempt to fool people into thinking it was a parody. It was re-titled E.T.n Extra Terrestrial nasty. Worst film I have ever seen. Many thanks for looking

Wow, that sounds really bad.  Will have to look for it!  Glad you were able to solve your own question.

As bad as NIGHT FRIGHT may be, it's a masterpiece when compared to every Larry Buchanan film from the same period. So similar in period affect (and plot) that I thought it was Buchanan when I caught it on TV... then after 10 minutes I thought, "No way, too competent and compelling to be Buchanan!"
