Title: SINISTER 2 (2015)

Really good horror movies rarely have good sequels.
Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN was a great film IMO, but its sequel was downright awful.
JEEPERS CREEPERS was one of the few movies that really rattled my cage; its sequel was pretty horrible.
And don't even get me started on THE RING 2.

SINISTER was one of my absolute favorite horror films of the last 10 years; it combined a few very effective jump scares with a creeping atmosphere of dread and a compelling storyline into a very cohesive and scary film.  So I approached its sequel with some trepidation. Surely the writers/directors couldn't return to that well a second time and draw out another gem?

Turns out they did.  SINISTER 2 isn't quite as great as the first film, but it is very effective and has some wonderfully creepy moments.
The Deputy from the first film has been fired from the force, and has taken it upon himself to try and find all the sites where B'Ghuul had seduced children into murdering their families. Since B'Ghuul always uses those homes to recruit new children to murder, the Deputy is trying to sever the demon's connection to the world by burning the houses whenever he can find them.

But when he comes to the site where a pastor's child killed his entire family, the Deputy discovers that a mother and her twin boys are living there . . . and that B'Ghuul has already marked them for death.

What makes this one particularly effective is that most of the story is seen from the child's point of view.  The twin brothers Dylan and Zach are both being toyed with by B'Ghuul and his ghostly child minions, slowly led towards murder as the Deputy races the clock to try and save them.

A worthy addition to a great original film.  4.5/5
