Title: Dark Sanity (1982)
Post by: claws on February 22, 2016, 01:08:50 PM
Alan and Karen seem like a happily married couple. They just moved to L.A. to start all over again - Karen beat her alcohol addiction and Alan is starting a new job in the Insurance business. So far so good, but within the first ten minutes Karen is scared because she sees the curtain moving in their new home. Once inside she's zapped with visions of murder, frightened by a random cat, encounters the gardener wielding huge shears, sees a strange man watching the house, meets her outspoken neighbor and her yahoo husband, and has to deal with furniture movers trying to rip her off!

Dark Sanity is as cheap as they come but it is irresistibly charming and entertaining and never a minute boring. It's basically like a slasher-drama-crime-mystery-soap opera with psychic and domestic stuff happening by the minute. I had a great time watching. It is available on YouTube under the title Straight Jacket, but audio quality is a bit poor during the first 20 minutes or so. 4/5

I saw this one years ago under the title Strait Jacket. Cheap, awkward yet strangely engaging. My favorite parts were the trippy "hallucination" scenes. Definately a fun watch if you're into early 80s slasher / mysteries. Again, a quite fun watch for b-movie lovers.
