Title: Kids Halloween Candy Code??
Post by: AoTFan on October 26, 2016, 07:08:54 PM
So, has anyone heard of this before?  Apparently there's a series of sidewalk chalk codes which kids in some areas use to mark houses as to what type of treats they give out.  The article says it's particularly handy for kids who live in neighborhoods that have a strict curfew.

For example

Means "No one home"

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Full Sized Candy Bars (These houses were my favorite as a kid!)

And so on.

It's actually a pretty neat system.  My question though, is this something new that got invented after I was a kid (I'm 39), or something old I just never heard of?

Anyway, you can read the article about it here...

Granted, this whole article might just be a joke, as some of the "symbols" seem a little unrealistic, for example

"100% Pure Angus Beef"?!?

And

Out of candy, giving out sauce packets from Taco Bell

But, still, sounds like it good a neat idea if neighborhood kids were organized enough to use it.

I don't know if I hate this idea or like this idea. The chalk idea could save a lot of walking time, but on the other hand what if the person is out of candy and the kid is determined to get some from a house that had a marking that said it has candy.

As for peanuts... I think this is the parents job, the children shouldn't be eating the candy anyway, they should wait until they get home. On the other hand, Children shouldn't be trick or treating without parent supervision.
