Title: FAVORITE CREEPY STORIES, TRUE OR NOT
Post by: alandhopewell on October 28, 2016, 02:20:23 PM
Being as Halloween is nigh, I thought I'd post a link to a story that's been spider-jiggling in the back of my mind since I was thirteen; please, post something like it, if you will.

That’s a cool story!  It’s stuff like this that make it unlikely that I will ever go on a cruise.  The best thing that could happen is that we would get attacked by demon pirates or sucked into another dimension, but that’s also the worst thing that could happen.

I recently bought my daughter the “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” books to help her get more interested in reading (it’s working!)  One of those books has a story called “The Red Spot” about a girl who gets what everyone thinks is a pimple and tells her not to worry about it.. and then millions of baby spiders hatch out of it – AAAAH!  That story has freaked me out almost my whole life.  I know that’s not possible (actually, I’ll never be 100% convinced) but the human botfly is real and that’s almost the same thing.  When I read about Juliane Koepcke, the only survivor of a plane crash, who trekked through the Amazon jungle injured, starving and bleeding for something like 10 days, I think she said of her condition at the time that she recalled being most worried about the botfly larva in her arm.  She and her story are pretty amazing, but not quite creepy.

Most assuredly not true, and I wouldn't bother reading it until you're alone in the dark, but:

Anansi's Goatman Story (http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Anansi's_Goatman_Story)

One of the better supernatural creepypastas I've found on the internet. Really, really long, though.

I don't know if that one is true but it did remind me of how Telly Savalas claimed to have been given a ride from a ghost.  He was supposedly very serious about it, but I don't know enough about him to know if he's the kind of person to make something like that up.

Once upon a time, the United States was so far in the hole, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were the Presidential candidates.  The End

The Russian Sleep Experiment (http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Russian_Sleep_Experiment) is probably my favorite creepypasta.

In my hometown of Gweru, Zimbabwe there was a house in our area which was reputed to be haunted. It stood almost derelict for years, no one went in or out until friends dared me to try and get in one afternoon, so I did, through a broken window.

Empty. No ghosts, no creepy messages, no nothing. Disappointing to say the least.

About a year later, people moved in and renovated the place: quite a nice place.
