Title: Movie ends in Hammer Fight
Post by: JimmyTime on November 28, 2016, 10:14:50 PM
I saw a clip where a movie ended with two older white men having a fight over a hammer. There's real blood and they break character & start calling each other by their real names.

It sounds like it could be Emperor Of The North, which ends with a brutal fight on a train, and I believe hammers figure into this. If you check it out by going to the IMDB and reading some reviews that may job your memory. The movie came out in 1973. I saw it in the theater and liked it. Lots of violence.

I don't know what the title is but I remember Emperor of the North ending with Lee Marvin holding an axe.

It's MAIDSTONE (1970), directed by and starring Norman Mailer. In the final scene he and the character played by Rip Torn fight, and it seems like the fight breaks the fourth wall (intentionally or otherwise). I'm not allowed to post links (?) but if you Google (or Youtube) "Rip Torn vs Norman Mailer - the infamous "Maidstone" brawl - UNCUT!" you will find the clip you mentioned (the hammer appears within about 30 seconds).
