Post by: AoTFan on January 29, 2017, 11:14:11 PM
A NEW revolutionary series by yours truly!  Enjoy!

"Party at the Grave" by Mike Allan

(Group of a teenagers, including the usual tropes-the Jock, the Cheerleader, Thin Nerd, Heavyset Joker, The Stoner, Black Dude, Black Dude's Black Girlfriend, Goth chick-are sitting around a picnic table in the later evening.  A bottle of alcohol and a few cans of beer sit on the table.  We hear indistinct conversation as laugher as the camera pans closer to them.)

Jock (suddenly stops and looks around): Ah, shoot, guys it's starting to get late!  We better jet before the cops show.

Black Dude: Yeah, man, that's a good idea.  But I'm not ready to go home.  Where should we take this?

(Brief pause)

Heavyset Joker: Oh, I got an idea!  Let's go over to the cemetery!  It'll be completely empty and we can party like crazy there!

(Abrupt dead silence.  A beat, then-)

The Stoner (choking on drag): Seriously, dude?  That's like totally disrespectful!

Black Dude's Black Girlfriend: Not to mention creepy!

Thin Nerd; Yeah, man!

Goth (who's been standing a bit off to the side by herself at this point, suddenly speaks): My Aunt is buried in that cemetery.  She died last year from cancer.

Cheerleader (walks over and puts her arm around her): Ah, Jaime, I'm so sorry...

(Everyone else glares at Joker)

Jock: Oh, good move, dude!

Black Guy: Yeah, man, way to bring up a bad memory.

(Everyone else starts to mumble their agreement.)

Thin Nerd: Hey, I got it!  Why don’t we go to my place?  Parents are out of the town for this weekend, and I’ve got pretty decent-sized basement.

Jock: Yo, that’s sounds good!

(Others, except Joker, chime in).

Cheerleader: Yeah, let’s do that!

(Everyone grabs their cups and walks off stage left, except the Joker, who stands alone for a bit.)

Joker (sighs): Still say it would have been cooler to go to the cemetery.

(Walks off, following the rest of the crowd.)
