Title: Straight To DVD/VHS Movies That Don't Suck Nards
Post by: Olivia Bauer on February 09, 2017, 10:06:31 PM
I can't really name any. I head Cinderella 3 was surprisingly good but I've never watched it.
=/
Usually "Straight To" movies are garbage but I bet there's a couple good ones.

I don't think GRAVE ENCOUNTERS had a big screen release, and it was pretty awesome.
Still sorry I didn't score a copy of it when Hastings was closing down!

A lot of Japanese anime goes straight to video (OVA). "Cat Soup" is one I like.

My colleague Giles Edwards raved about this recent mockumentary on direct-to-VHS movies (which, of course, itself was put out direct-to-video): http://366weirdmovies.com/366-underground-winners-tape-all-the-henderson-brothers-story-2015/ (http://366weirdmovies.com/366-underground-winners-tape-all-the-henderson-brothers-story-2015/)

I always find it amazing and a little sad that this gut-wrenching film went straight to DVD: the South African premiere of it in 2010 was a watershed movie experience for me, i.e. I bawled my eyes out.
