4. The night I met my wife I was annoyed with the girl I was out with that night and almost walked out of the party and if I had I never would have met the woman I married, so I tried to get her to be our maid of honor but she if she did that she’d have to get divorced.

Part II.

1. When I was four my imaginary playmate was my grandson, an adult who told me I should write things down, and whom I still claim taught me how to read. He seemed as real as anyone else I've ever met in my life.

2. My favorite seasons in order are: winter, autumn, spring, and summer. I love cool rainy days and hate heat and humidity, so why I live where I do, I have no idea.

3. My favorite color is yellow, edging out blue, and my favorite sound is silence, in moderation. My favorite smell might be hot pavement after a light rain, though fresh-mown grass is very nice. My favorite touch-sensation may be nice clean bed-sheets against my skin.

4. I have a pseudo-phobia of horses, and I do not know why this is since within reason no other animals, including the Big Three S's "spiders and snakes and sharks," scare me.

5. When I was thirteen I persuaded my mother to choose as our PBS (affiliate) membership premium, Upstairs, Downstairs, The Complete First Season, which is maybe my favorite TV show ever.

6. In 1990 I went to Land Between the Lakes with my best friend's family, and ran ahead with her little brother on a multi-mile looping hiking trail so far and so fast, we went all the way around and came up behind the others and scared them. Her dad actually said the ess-word, and I'd never heard him say that before.

7. I once wrote a letter to Kevin Spacey. He replied.

8. I was at Lollapalooza on the 25th anniversary of the moon landing, and hadn't eaten in four days. I came home, turned around and went to visit my family in Ireland, and when my aunt picked my up in Dublin to drive us across, she got me to eat something, and without meaning to I threw it up, and kept throwing up anything I ate for about the next day. It was embarrassing and scary, and her English roommates told me I had a problem. I said no I'm fine, then ate and yakked again. I said sorry, my life these days is an after-school special on steroids (I had to explain to them what an after-school special was) and they nervously kind of laughed, and my aunt promptly reported me to my mother, her oldest sister, who of course freaked out and said, "Evelyn, you're going to die." Ironically, three months later, I nearly did.

9. I almost lost my virginity the same day I got my driver's license. Almost. He asked me a question, and that made me stop and think. For the record, never ask me a deep question if you want to have sex with me because I'll stop whatever I'm supposed to be doing and think about it. Oh, well, taught him to get philosophical.

10. I like to cook, and am good at it, but I don't like to eat, so when people ask why I'm not eating what I fixed, I tell them it's because I put poison in there.

Bonus: As long as I don't know anyone buried there, cemeteries make me feel peaceful and at one with my place in time.

1) I have twice managed to avoid meeting Ozzy Osbourne, one of which was accidental, the second time I was worried he might as for a piece of the pizza I was eating and I didn't want to share.
2) I met my current wife when she attacked my castle in a facebook game.
3) I have an almost complete collection of 80's Star Wars action figures. I refuse to pay what most people want for the A Wing Pilot though.
4) Only learned to drive a little over a year ago at the age of 42 because my job forced me to. I still haven't bothered buying a car though as I enjoy walking.
5) I have survived being stabbed multiple times, although I do have more scar tissue than the average person.
6) When I was younger I tried hard to believe in God, but I've never really felt anything there. Currently my belief is that the universe is indifferent to life, especially since finding out due to a slowly decaying male gene, humanity as a species has a limited life span.
7) I love going places where there is no sign of civilization. Ever seen the night sky without any light pollution?
8) Every place I have worked has went out of business after I've left. Given my current job, when I leave I plan on spending quite some time out of the country.
9) All the places I wanted to go see as a young child I've managed to go see as an adult. I am sure 3 year old me would be very happy about that.
10) My collection of bad movies is now too large to keep in any of the rooms in the house and the DVD cases now have to live out in the garage.

4) AOL/Verizon decided they no longer needed a web directory around the end of Feb.  Now I'm :bluesad:
5) Other editors are trying to restart, but I'm still bummed out.
6) I didn't know this board had a marquee tag. Til now, that is.
7) I like Smilies.    Alot.  :teddyr:
8) I'm more of a B-Grade Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fan than a B-Grade horror fan.
9) I helped finish a list of 100 anthology TV shows, along time ago.
10) I bought a book on COBOL.

Part III. (Sorry I could do these all day since so many of my favorite sentences start with "I".)

1. I have been to every US state except Hawaii, and also to Europe, South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and New Zealand. And, oh yeah, Texas, another foreign country.
2. I've read every issue of The Sandman.
3. For a good portion of my life I was an agnostic, and even drifted into being anti-religious, but the last seven years I have had a personal appreciation for the merits of Christianity, and this has changed my life.
4. I am obsessed with maps like crows are with shiny objects.
5. I've been to the Kentucky Derby several times, a World Series game, and to tapings of The Antiques Roadshow and Saturday Night Live.
6. I failed miserably at the breakfast burrito challenge at Juan In A Million, in Austin, Texas.
7. Years ago I unintentionally hastened the breakup of a failing marriage, though not in the way you might think, just by...I don't know how to finish that. By being (too) emotionally close to someone?
8. I've been in a hot air balloon, and tossed superballs off it (didn't see where they went).
9. One of my closer friends of late has been a man I used to illogically hate so much that for years I regretted saving his life from a prescription drug interaction overdose when I was in high school.
10. I told my husband if he had a bachelor party, the wedding was off. I'm not the ballbreaker that makes me sound like, I'm truly not, trust me, but I think bachelor and bachelorette parties are disrespectful of what you're setting out to undertake.

9. Most of my memories of my grandfather are from seeing and speaking to him after he died.

You spoke with him after he died?

Yes, well I was 2, so I don't know how credible the memories are.  I recall seeing him at night in my room and he would smile and talk cutesy and ask me how I was and how gramma (his wife) was.  I think he came 2 or 3 times and I mostly remember him asking about gramma and telling me to make sure we take good care of her.  I know it was after he died because we moved right after and I remember it from the "new" house.  My mom recalls me telling her things like "grampa said hi" and being creeped out.  I also remember the last time I saw him I was sitting in the living room with my gramma, but she couldn't see him.  He walked in through the front door, went into another room, came out with a packed suitcase, waved and said "bye-bye" and walked outside and disappeared in an orange light on the front sidewalk.  That last memory seems more like something I might have made up, but maybe it was his way of letting me know he wasn't going to visit anymore.  I don't have any memories of him before those times.

5.  The car I drove in college was a 1970 Chevy Nova with dents in the quarter panels and rusted holes in the floorboard!
6.  I found my first arrowhead when I was five years old.
7.  I tried to write my first novel in high school; it's still in a box in my attic somewhere.
8.  I lost all interest in fishing when I got into arrowhead hunting.

1. So far in my life I've owned three different Lincolns, two Towncars and one Continental.
2. I once fell on a piece of glass in the park and still have the scar on my arm when I got stitches.
3. When I was a toddler, I fell off the couch and hit a coffee table, causing a gash that required stitches.  Then, a few months after the stitches were taken out, I fell (or maybe jumped) off the couch, injuring my forehead AGAIN.  This time they did NOT take me to the hospital, figuring knowing would believe the same thing just coincidentally happened twice..
4. I have a Grim Reaper Beanie Baby. Saw it at a yard sale and said, "Whoa, gotta get this!"
5. Would have given anything to have a video camera as a kid.
6. I have a bad habit of chewing on things (like pens and stuff).  (Insert your own psychological theory here.)
7. I've had glasses since second grade, and my vision has steadily gone downhill since.

4. I believe I will either die a violent, sudden death, or else live to be very old.
5. I will never be good enough for my mother in law.
6. I try never to accidentally offend anyone.
7. I'm happiest when I see other people happy.
8. In both the novel and the series, I was rooting against the girl in 13 Reasons Why.
9. I will never be good friends with the present.
10. I like the lines: "Spinning down, the top whose time has done/ Does it recall when it began/ Or how it was when all the world was motion?"

1. I did not have sex on my wedding night, because it was a long tiring day, and besides, after you've been together almost a decade and you've got a child, a rush toward the mysteries of consummation loses some point.

2. My great-grandfather was a lawyer with such a good reputation that near the end of his life he was appointed to fill out the last few days of someone's term as a Federal Appeals Court Judge. Though he heard no cases, and was actually terminally ill at that time, it was a nice honor for his peers to bestow on him.

3. I almost never drink soft drink, milk, or alcohol, but when I do it isn't Dos Equis.

4. We don't have cable TV. In fact I grew up with only one TV in our home.

5. Five generations of my family have lived in the house I live in now.

6. One day my uber-leftist cousin in London was in front of Harrod's passing out flyers for some political cause, when a limousine pulled up and out stepped Iman (Mrs. Bowie to my way of thinking) and my cousin held a flyer out to her, to which Iman walked past without even looking her way. (Ha!)

7. When she was gleefully drunk just before her thirtieth birthday another cousin of mine danced with me in this hotel room we were in together (that she got comped for us!!!), then kissed me passionately with her tongue in my mouth, and then laughed about it. When I told her that was remotely incestuous, she tried to do it again. Heck, she was actually one of the three best kissers I know, way better than the others girls who have kissed me.

8. The End, by The Doors, gave me chills the first time I heard it, tonight, tonight, makes me feel eternally sixteen inside, but I still think The Ode To Joy is human music at its most evolved.

9. My father claims he fell totally in love with my mother the second he saw her. He says he forgot to breathe, all thought stopped in his brain, he got tunnel vision, and he would have killed or died for her on the spot, all within seconds. He abandoned the summer bicycle trip around Ireland he was doing, forgot his friends, forgot everything. He stayed as long as he could, dropped out of college to get back to her, defied his parents (my paternal grandfather could be a daunting figure too) and ultimately married her three times: once in Ireland in 1978, once in Ohio in 1978, and again over here in 2016. And, by the way, I was born ten months and one week after they got married, so....that was all free will. (If you were paying attention to fact 1. up there, you see I'm not a fan of shotgun weddings.)

10. I am gradually losing hearing in my right ear, and this this goes back to having an ear ache so bad when I was thirteen that I developed scar tissue inside that is hardening and constricting and dulling my hearing. One other side effect of this is about maybe one morning every two months on average I've woken up extremely motion sick, with the room spinning around me, and all I can do then is lie still, try not to throw up amid the nausea, and wait for this to pass. Try feeling this while a demanding toddler or three climbs on you to get you to get up.

Bonus: The reason I got that ear ache when I was thirteen is I was FINALLY allowed to get my ears pierced, and that earlobe got inflamed for some reason, hurt bad, so I went down and got ice in a paper towel to put on it, fell asleep holding it there, the ice melted and ran into my ear and....voila.

1 I love the smell of gasoline
2 I lost my virginity at 13
3 my sister and me always tried to make each other laugh when attending church (forced to go by our grandmother) as kids.
4 I had my first nightmare when I was 5. It took my parents an hour to calm me down.
5 between the age of 10-15 I used to hitch rides. Sometimes on my own.
6 I saw Lou Ferrigno in Italy once.
7 I have an autographed picture of Bea Fiedler. She was a popular German topless model and actress from the 1980s. She now lives on welfare and shops at a store in another town my sister works at. They became friendly and since I'm a fan of her (bad) movie "Macho Man" (1985) my sister asked for an autograph for me.
8 When I was seven I had to see a child psychiatrist because I was terrified of the thought that my parents might die.
9 I love green olives. I sometimes eat a jar of olives in one sitting.
10 I never went to any of my class reunions.

So did my cousin, and she used to try to terrorize me by telling me how awful it was. I'd say, "You were f**king thirteen, Dee, what did you expect?"

3. Was this a cruise ship or were you in the navy or out fishing or what?

6. Say whaaaaat?  When was this?  Was he President at the time?  How'd you manage that?

I had a roommate once who had a picture of him with (then Senator) Barack Obama.  Regardless of one's politics rubbing elbows with anybody that high up has got to be cool.

I was a sailor aboard the USS Lockwood.  Google the ship's name under images you'll see photos of the collision damage.

W. came to my home town while he was running for governor and held a town hall meeting.  I waited at the end and shook hands with him; I mentioned I was a museum educator and my wife a schoolteacher, and he talked my ear off about improving education funding for five minutes!  (And he did it too!)

1. The only time I was ever in Mexico I was pregnant, and easily twenty local women tried to sell me pregnancy charm bracelets and necklaces to keep bad spirits away.

2. About fourteen years ago I took the little boy I was babysitting to a cemetery so he could feed bread to the ducks there, and we came around this yew alley and saw a man surely no older than his twenties putting flowers on the grave of this young woman who died in the 1800s, and the man was weeping violently, and that has ever since been a mystery to me, why was he crying over someone so long dead?

3. One of my closest friends tried out for the 1996 and 2000 Olympics in gymnastics, and if ever you think you're limber and want to be shown you're not, work out with a gymnast.

4. I was once walking along a creekbank and encountered a copperhead in an area which a spokesperson for the local zoo said had no poisonous snakes whatsoever. Yes, it was a real copperhead. Yes, a snake. Yes, I'm sure.

5. In twelfth grade I hit this French guy in the face damn hard with a glass votive candle holder, because he said he wanted to throw my dad through a glass door. That's something I was so ashamed of doing (even if I guess he had it coming) I deleted it from my relatively tell-all diary.

6. Today the last intern til summer and I drove all the way downtown, half an hour each way, for Vietnamese Pho box lunches.

7. I had my first kiss oddly late in life, all things considered.

8. Unlike Trevor, I used to like the feel of new underwear so much I would wear it once, wash it, give it to a thrift store, and keep buying it new every week, til I realized that was a crazy needless expense and eventually quit.

9. In high school I was often in class with this boy who was possibly one of the two smartest people I knew to that point, who had zero inhibitions about anything, I gather, and a few times I went to his house and his mother was a really nice hippie sort of lady who'd greet you with what she called "energy hugs" and it was funny but they grew their own marijuana and would get together and smoke it, this kid and his parents, and to them that was....shrug, a nice way to spend time together, but to me it always seemed disturbing to think of him getting high with his mom and dad.

10. I suppose my father loved his father, my grandpa, but he didn't like him and had deep resentment toward him for his conduct, and when I was sixteen I saw the two of them almost get into a real fight at the hospital where my grandma was in intensive care after a stroke. If my aunt had not stepped between them, I think my dad was going to punch my grandpa (who despite being sixty-five then was actually in good shape and relatively formidable) in a hospital hallway, fifteen feet from where his mother was lying. I was not used to seeing my self-controlled father lose it, and the whole incident, these men I loved nearly coming to blows, was almost as disturbing as my beautiful grandmother lying in a bed with tubes in her. That all came down during a stretch of months that was the most stressful and terrible time in my life.

These kind of threads are always fun.  :tongueout:

1 - I have in my possesion a guitar pick of Steve Morse that I got on a Deep Purple concert on Argentina, many years ago.
2 - I've met my favorite musician, Luca Turilli, three times by now. Got pictures from every meeting, and in one we even had a small talk. He's a very humble and good willed man.
3 - I've written two fantasy books.
4 - I've once ridden an elephant and scratched a lion's belly.
5 - Got a leg ran over by a car once, but only got a few stitches from a stone that got lodged in my foot. Not a single bone broken.
6 - My favorite movie of all times is Warcraft.
7 - I lost my virginity at 28. I still consider it one of the best decisions of my life.
8 - Once I had an owl pet which we rescued from an abandoned building. It was by far my favorite pet, never seen such an empathic animal in my life.
9 - I only get sick once a year. Sometimes not even that.
10 - The only birthday I remember is my mother's, and only because it's a day before new year. The only reason I remember mine is because I have to, in order to fill forms and stuff like that.

1) I dislike the taste of most fish. And coffee.
2) I honestly believe Peter Jackson has forgotten how to make low budget films less than three hours long.
3) I have seen an aircraft on fire and flames spreading over the undercarriage towards wing tip fuel tanks.
4) One of my stab wounds left me without full use of my left arm (still got 95% movement, so it is all good though. I just have a spot on my upper back I can't reach to scratch on one side if it itches).
5) It is amazing how inventive you can get when you have an itch you can't reach and need to scratch.
6) No one has ever been able to convince me Flash Gordon isn't the best science fiction film ever made.
7) I have shellback status. All hail King Neptune! Possibly the only person on here who would know what that means without using the internet would be Indy.
8) Refreshers are my favourite sweet. Basically they are sugar with added sugar.
9) I pity those who chose the wrong wolf to feed, but still torment them.
10) All my favourite female characters in the Harry Potter series died, save one. Luna Lovegood.

1. I have a child with an infinite amount of energy. If I could hook him up to the national grid we'd have no energy problem.
2. He appears to be a carnivore, refusing to eat almost anything but meat. He makes an exception for bananas.

8. He has a very infectious laugh that can have a whole train full of people smiling.
9. He likes watching horror films with me and will often laugh at the gory bits.

Well, I was kinda joking on some of those.

I don't identify as a socialist but there are some policies on that end of the political isle I can see use for. So obviously I get labed a socialist.

And the thirty six dicks was a reference to Clerks. I just really like spicy tuna.

Ten Random Bad Things About Myself----Some With Explanations

1. I make horses nervous just by being around them; I think they sense my fear.

2. As a teenager I quit talking to my mom for about a year; when I did next talk to her I asked if I could give her wedding dress to Goodwill.

3. I once dropped an F-bomb on someone at his dad's funeral; he mostly laughed. (Mostly.)

4. I went out with the man I eventually married from 2001 to 2003 without having sex with him; I made up for it later.

5. I accidentally ruined the ending of Soylent Green for someone; I'd never seen it myself.

6. I "borrowed" a $3,400 pair of infrared/night vision goggles from the Air Force and....kept them a while? (Shrug, the Air Force has mounds of the damn things lying around.)

7. After bragging how I could handle myself in the wild, I got so freaked about rattlesnakes in  Texas I made the man I was with walk ahead of me up this sagebrush-covered hill at dusk, so he'd be the one to get bitten.

8. Years ago I left a b***hy message on my friend's voice mail about her standing me up for going to the movies together, and it turned out she was in the hospital having a miscarriage. (In my defense I hadn't known she was pregnant.)

9. I once participated in an amorous act beside the grave of Civil War hero General "Fightin' Joe" Hooker. (Are you going to pretend having a Civil Wargasm isn't on your bucket list?)

10. When my friend pointed out some guy who was a jerk to her, I went into the restaurant where he was with his buds and said I thought it was completely wrong of his last girlfriend to go around making fun of his small penis, since that wasn't his fault. (IN fairness he did seem like he'd be under-endowed.)

(Number six maybe wasn't as bad as it sounds. Knowing I could have been given the equipment under the table to use for a few days I just took the device home with me to use at night in my woods and brought it back. The reason I didn't ask was I didn't want to add to my growing debts in the favor bank. I figured nobody would notice if I got it back between inventories and no one did.)
