Title: A Bad Movie Calendar
Post by: Chainsawmidget on June 02, 2017, 12:49:45 PM
Okay.  Here we go.  We're going to post one movie for each day of the year, and why that is a good movie for that day.

Some movies will be obvious.  Watch a Christmas movie on Christmas.  Watch a Halloween movie on Halloween.  For other days you might have to explain a bit more.

For instance, April 17th was the Bay of Pigs Invasion.,  A good day to watch red Zone Cuba*.  April 17th is also World Hemophilia Day, so you could also watch I Drink Your Blood.

Post the movie (with box art if possible) a quick description, and why it's a good movie for the day.

Get it?

January 1st.
It's a new year, so let's start with Bloody New Year.  (And really, it's worth watching for the box art alone.)

Bloody New Year

Six teens on the run from hoodlums go boating.  Their boat sinks and they and end up on a small island with a hotel and some houses all decorated for New Years despite it being the middle of summer.  However, they soon discover that the entire island is trapped in some sort of time warp where ghosts, zombies, and demons trapped there since the 50s show up to torture and kill the teens.

Whoever goes next posts the movie for January 2nd, next is Jan 3, and so on and so forth.

*I'm lying.  There is no good day to watch Red Zone Cuba.

Funny, I recently tried to do something similar with MST3K episodes. I found it was too hard to find appropriate movies for nondescript days like January 2. (Also funny that I picked RED ZONE CUBA for the exact same day for the exact same reason!)

So I predict this idea won't go far, but what the hell? You might want to check out the Wikipedia page for a particular day for ideas.

For Cuba Gooding Jr.s birthday, 1/2:

Ugh. Sequel to the awful DADDY DAY CARE.

Also, I suggest any generic winter bad movie would be appropriate for any January day.

January 3, 1959: Alaska is the 49th state admitted to the Union.

Suggestion:

I don't care for it, but it does take place in Barrow, AK during their long winter night, during which January 3 actually falls. Vampires on a bloody rampage in a place where the sun doesn't rise for a month! How can you go wrong? Watch the movie to find out!

Jesse the Body Ventura is sworn in as governor.

He also starred in this movie.

Triumph Of The Will should be shown either the weekend or the night before every election in America, just to remind people how a bad idea can look really good.

Apparently June 12 is Superman day, so the bad movie of the day is obviously...
