Title: swamp thing Post by: kakihara on July 03, 2017, 03:46:32 PM I used to catch this on tv as a kid and recently saw it again. I Never realized how bad it is, maybe in a good way? Swamp thing is played by a guy with a porn name in a rubber suit. It Was filmed in charleston sc, i cant imagine the hell of being in a hot southern swamp in a heavy rubber suit. Ive always liked the main villian, i think his acting alone makes the movie worth watching. Throw in some adrienne barbeau and her "talents" . some goofy henchmen, a midget, and a fight scene with a sword weilding pig-head armadillo werewolf thingy, violla!

Although a lot more changes happened to the character after the movie. The series was relaunched soon after it, and with it and writer Alan Moore the character underwent major changes. For starters, Swamp Thing was no longer Alec Holland. It merely believed itself to be him, but was a plant that had absorbed his memories when he died. The character became emissary for "The "Parliament of Trees" or "The Green" a mythical force that connects all plant life on Earth. He's still active on the more supernatural/magical elements of DC universe. Come to think of it...this movie spawned a sequel, a live action tv series (where Swamp Thing is played by Dick Durok-the same actor from the movies), an animated series, which had a video game based off it. That may make Swamp Thing one of the more successful DC characters outside of Superman and Batman in terms of moving between media. DICK DUROK returned as Swampy. Title: Re: swamp thing Post by: Mofo Rising on July 10, 2017, 09:50:31 AM I quite like Swamp Thing, underappreciated Wes Craven movie. It's not really a good movie, but it's probably better than you think it is.
Quick story, though. I was walking by the pharmacy at my local grocery store the other day, and of all movies to be playing on the TV next to it was Swamp Thing. And not just any scene from Swamp Thing, the Adrienne Barbeau bathing scene from Swamp Thing. I guess they play some cheapo broadcast movie station on their television, but what a movie to be watching in the supermarket during the middle of the day. |
