Title: Equifax data breach
Post by: Rev. Powell on September 09, 2017, 09:54:26 AM
About half of all Americans are affected by this. Not sure what the effect will be down the road. The hackers have a massive amount of data but they will probably abuse only a tiny percentage---they more they use, the more likely they'll eventually get tracked and caught.

I recommend going to https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/ (https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/) and seeing if you're potentially affected. I am.

This is one of my biggest fears. Im really close to having my sheot together. I try to to keep most of my life offline, Ive been able to so far ( compaired to the average person), but slowly Im being pulled in. I make up numbers and birthdays when I buy something at a store, but I know that my info is out there waiting to be hacked.

Being a federal employee for 10 years, I've had my stuff lifted twice now. Then there was the Playstation Store breach, and I was is in another one as well. Now this.

My credit rating is so utterly wrecked by my own hand that my information would do little more than draw attention to them.

I am  broke-no bank account-no income. My credit is destroyed by hospital bills I stored in my circular file box (e.i.-waste paper basket.) So I ain't worried. They don't want to be me.

My credit rating is so royally F'd that it would be useless to the hackers.

If they do have my info, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it back with a note that said "We're sorry. We had no idea. Wanna borrow fifty bucks?"

That's a lot of people affected.  According to their site, I'm not one of them.  But I think it really has to do with banks doing business with each other... and sharing information that is none of their business to share.  Or, is it their business?   :hatred:

Probably. The site's infrastructure hasn't been updated in years. Just send me your SSN and all major CC #s and I'll put them in safe storage.

I don't have that problem, because I don't log in. Really. I havn't logged in but a handful of times since 2006. I never log out. I just  'x' the page and go somewhere else. But I never log out.
