Title: FAVORITE SEQUELS
Post by: RCMerchant on September 10, 2017, 02:12:05 AM
I don't mean 'sequels' as in the 3rd or fourth in a series-but the 2nd film in a series.
Here's some of mine-some are obvious-some not so-
.The BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935) is an obvious choice.
.WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST (1958) I like this one even better the AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN! For one-he's much uglier-half his face is gone-and at the end the film goes into color as he dies!
.RETURN OF THE FLY (1959) You get to much more of the monster in this one-plus the make-up is a vast improvement-with the big, giant fly-head! And Vinnie is back, too!
.SCREAM,BLACULA,SCREAM (1973) It's got Pam Grier! And William Marshall really gets p**sed off!

I enjoyed PREDATOR 2,EVIL DEAD 2,and TERMINATOR 2 and ALIENS-but I can't stand any GHOULIES movie.
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first (but what is?). I thought part 3 was much better than 2-which I thought very watered down.

Some more great sequels-
.the AMITYVILLE HORROR II:THE POSSESSION (1982)-A fantastic film! The family is a dysfunctional mess to begin with-and the incest angle is downright creepy.
.TROLL 2 (1990)-I don't even have to explain this,do I?
.KONG:SKULL ISLAND (2017)-So great! The cool giant critters, the helicopters from 'Nam,the music! So great!

.TROLL 2 (1990)-I don't even have to explain this,do I?

I finally saw both Troll movies earlier this year (one after the other on the same day) and I think I actually prefer the first one. maybe the 2nd one had been hyped up so much that it clouded my judgement, but the first one was more entertaining and bizarre, imo

I can't stand any GHOULIES movie.
the first one and the 3rd one are completely wretched and annoyed me. the 2nd and 4th fall into the ' so bad its good' category...for me anyway.

part 2 also has Don Dawson from dazed + confused in it, which tickles me...

I noticed a couple folks listed FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE as a sequel to A FIST FULL OF DOLLARS...but is Clint the same character in the Leone Trilogy? Personally-I think he is-because of a number of reasons-
1.In a FIST FULL OF DOLLARS 'Joe' gets his hand crushed.
2.In a FEW DOLLARS MORE 'Manco' wears a leather brace on the same hand
3.In the GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY (which is a prequel to the first one!) 'Blondie' finds the poncho that he wears in the previous 2 films!

Considering it's gotten good ratings since the '80s, and that it runs with fresh material every weeknight, I've long thought ET's sequel was better than the cinematic original, and that taking it onto TV was a bold move. It also finally told us what "ET" stood for: Entertainment Tonight.

Whoah -Whoah hoss!  :buggedout:
E.T. had a sequel? Huh?
Oh wait-this is another joke that I'm blindly walking into, right?

THE DEVIL'S REJECTS

This is a fantastic film. I didn't really care for the first one.

SON OF DRACULA

Great film-not a direct sequel,though. That would be DRACULA'S DAUGHTER (1936) which I LOVE.
