Title: The Blair Witch/Rings
Post by: ER on October 14, 2017, 09:09:37 PM
I saw them both at the same time, a rare enough thing for me to watch one movie, let alone a double-header. Neither movie was horrible and neither was any good, being bland, rote, predictable and at times silly, even for a genre with which I lost patience sometime in the late Clinton years. The Blair Witch I'd rate as a D+, and Rings a D-. Oddly the original films in each series, The Blair Witch Project, and The Ring, I did like, just not these tired trips to a worked-out goldmine.

And yet each was still much better than Showgirls.

Yet nothing is as entertaining as Showgirls. Not even seeing your office rival utterly destroy her career with one poorly-timed Facebook post can generate a smile like the one you get while watching fourth-rung actors chew scenery in broad strokes of non-acting.

The BLAIR WITCH PROJECT  left it's mark. How many s**tty "home made" video garbage was influenced by it? Like it or don't like it-it did make it's mark.
Personally-I liked it.

I thought the latest entry in the franchise, THE BLAIR WITCH, was infinitely better than BLAIR WITCH 2: THE BOOK OF SHADOWS - but not nearly as good as the first.
