Title: Diabolik.
Post by: Svengoolie 3 on December 13, 2017, 09:16:07 PM
I just had to say I'm amazed no one here has reviewed the classic crime fantasy "diabolik" yet. You sure as hell reviewed Barbarella and it was pretty much a stable mate to Diabolik.  What, can't make any cheap shots at Jane Fonda in a diabolik review?

You know this movie had the honor of being the last film done on MST3K...

A little known Mario Bava gem, but still pretty well done for it's time.

Was he the only person who could do reviews? Did he die and no one else has access?

He didn't die. He has a family, and we're guessing family life won out between the two. That's as it should be.

It is/was his site, so he did the primary site reviews. Kinda miss those. Since he moved on, no one has done the primary reviews for the site. Not sure about the access issue.

Older websites often had one author who maintained everything. If there was user generated content, said author had to upload it themselves. There is a user-review section, but Andrew hasn't updated it either. There is a user review forum tho. If you want you can write reviews for it.

Andrew does log in from time to time, for maintenance I guess. Check his profile to see the last time he did so.

You can write up your own reviews and put them in the "Submitted Reader Reviews" section, but yes, right now and for the foreseeable future no one else has access to put them on the "front end."

I have an old review of DANGER: DAIBOLIK on my site (366 Weird Movies), but it's a serious review, not a comic review in the badmovies.org style. http://366weirdmovies.com/capsule-danger-diabolik-1968/ (http://366weirdmovies.com/capsule-danger-diabolik-1968/)

I myself have only seen it in the MST3K version. It doesn't seem to be a "bad" movie, more a campy cult item. Of course, not all of Andrew's reviews were for bad movies (EL TOPO is there).

Hey rev, if you're into Bava did you see "planet of the vampires"? That was actually a good movie.

I have not. My Bava fave is the first one, BLACK SUNDAY.

I enjoyed "Diabolik." It was kinda like what would happen if you gave a "Batman" villain his own movie.
Also, his girlfriend was smoooookin' hot! :D
