I like it but it's pretty flawed. It suffers from being a generic buddy cop show and the writing becomes predictable sometimes but the premise, the characters, and the acting pull it through for me.

(Lucifer's mother is absolute garbage, though. Uhg.)

The episodes are not that consistent, I don't watch it a lot.

This same version of Lucifer was a much deeper character in the comics, The Sandman, Hellblazer. The way they dumbed the DC character down for this show's audience turned me off when I had high hopes. Better yet is Lucifer in Paradise Lost. You want gold, go to the gold mine. :-)

Maybe the new animated Constantine series will do Lucifer right. Hope springs eternal, after all.

I haven't watched the show, but I loved the way you phrased this.

Well,  Lucifer is christianities rip off version of the Greek deity Prometheus,  and yeah I am kinda fond of Prometheus.

Could you cite evidence for the Prometheus "rip off" pretty, pretty please, with sugar all sprinkled on top in neat little peaks and valleys of sweet goodness?

Personally, since Judaism greatly predates classical Greece, in fact it pre-dates all major religions including Hinduism, and since the devil is traditionally held to be the same figure by other names, Satan, Lucifer, etc. and the devil appears in Genesis, the very oldest Jewish text, I think once again you are, um, ahem, how shall I say this....wrong?

Also I think Prometheus was a titan, not a god, wasn't he? Or are Encyclopedia Britannica and I mistaken?

But please correct me from the vast well of your knowledge, since I do love learning something new.

PS I wish you'd quit being so deliberately abrasive, since when you're not being offensive you do post some good thoughts and topics, and that's why I've twice given you positive karma. Life's hard enough without making others dislike you through political baiting and religious bashing. Be who you are, but learn tact and context.  (I know, I know, you don't care if you're liked, etc etc etc...)

SIGH

Prometheus believed mankind should have knowledge and be able to use it, so he gave mankind knowledge zeus (big god) forbade man to have, i.e. the knowledge of fire.

zeus threw a hissy fit that man now had knowledge and punished prometheus terribly.

Zeus then decided to get even with humanity for having this knowledge by creating the first woman, pandora. (Until the time prometheus gave man fire, all humans were immortal males who lived in harmony.)

the first woman is sent to earth with a jar (not a box, that's a mistranslation) and told not to open it. disobediently she did and unleashed all the ills of the world on mankind, including death. She became the first woman t give birth in pain and all women were condemned to do so because of her acts.

So, all powerful deity creates mortals, wants to keep them ignorant. Another entity decides they should have knowledge, deity blows fuse, punishes entity, punishes humanity and it's all woman's fault so they get to suffer the worst.

No, you're right, no similarities at all.

Again, though, Mesopotamia is older than Greece (Abraham came from Ur, in Sumeria, so Judaism has its ancient origins there), so if one story influenced the other, the Greeks would not seem to be the originators. Maybe they copied the older Asian accounts, or maybe humankind retained in its collective memory the occurrence in antiquity that many cultures were trying to relate. The story is older than Greece or Christianity.

But thank you for explaining your remarks.
