Title: TUBI TV
Post by: RCMerchant on February 09, 2018, 01:03:39 AM
TUBI TV is some kinda app thing Tiana put on her Roku TV.
I seen Jean Rollin movies, Cheezy old Bela Lugosi movies (like SPOOKS RUN WILD-which is playing now), GOZU -which is an insane Japanese movie- Gamera movies-everything.
Do any of you guys have TUBI TV?

It's on the web: https://tubitv.com/

I also have it loaded on my Roku.

I just discovered it. Nice selection.

TubiTV is Netflix with the stuff I want to watch.  The quality of the movies is not always great, but the selection of offbeat stuff that we discuss here is great.  I am currently watching Hundra.

Yep, I have it on my Roku TV as well. It's quickly becoming my go-to channel when I can't decide what I want to watch - they almost always have something nice 'n trashy that fits the bill. :D

Just last night I watched "Ms. 45" on TubiTV.

I like Pluto TV.

http://free.pluto.tv/ (http://free.pluto.tv/)

It has a bunch of subchanels, including one that constantly shows MST3K and one that show the spinoff RIFFTRAX.

It's free, too.

We have Pluto too-I watch the news channels on that one.
 Kinda hate MST3K....
But it does have that Kung Fu channel!

There are so many streaming services....

I'm going to bet some of them start closing/merging within a few years. Even if they're owned by major media companies, are so many channels sustainable? For free? It reminds me of the early Dot-Com era.

Everyone wants to be the next Netflix or YouTube. Streaming services are new and exciting, but unless they're profitable they won't last.

I agree with Pacman. I don't see how Tubi can make it with their business model. Enjoy it while you can, they will probably start charging subscription fees soon.

That's likely. Wasn't HULU free once?

But like you said- I am enjoying it while it lasts. I watched just this week alone on TUBI-

.FRANKENSTEIN'S CASTLE OF FREAKS
.FOREIGN CRRESPONDENT
.BARON BLOOD
.BOWERY AT MIDNIGHT
.ROCKETSHIP X-M

Oh yeah, I'm sure that at some point some of these freebie streaming "channels" will either merge with one another or start charging subscription rates (or both).
A lot of the lower-end ones will likely disappear entirely, cuz they are all offering the same exact lineup of public-domain crap that everyone's seen a thousand times already.

Watched STROSZEK on Tubi last night. Interesting Werner Herzog movie featuring amateur actors, an aimless plot about a drunk German musician moving to Wisconsin, and a totally bonkers ending with a dancing chicken. Slow and kinda arty, but I think RC might like this one.

And I noticed when I watched it off my Roku there were a LOT more ads than when I watched a movie in my web browser. Also, like a lot of streaming serivces, the ads are just inserted randomly at timecodes---there's no human editor making sure you aren't breaking up the middle of a scene.

They usta have one of those 'dancing chickens' at the Deer Park petting zoo in Kalamazoo during the 70's!

I think that plate thing is electrified!

STROSZEK features the inimitable Bruno S., star of Herzog's THE ENIGMA OF KASPAR HAUSER.

Bruno S at the Berlin Wall:

I paid for Shudder for a couple of months but after watching some 70s Italian horrors I'd never seen there was not much to interest me.

I'll have to look to see what it's called, but I have one Roku free channel that has a bunch of the Universal monster movies for free. 'Hollywood Retro Movies' or something like that.

Not completely legit, I'm guessing.

Watched STROSZEK (1977) tonite.

Great movie.

" We have a 10-80 out here, a truck on fire, we have a man on the lift. We are unable to find the switch to turn the lift off, can't stop the dancing chickens. Send an electrician, we're standing by."

The channel I was thinking about earlier is called My Retro Flix.

http://www.myretroflix.com/ (http://www.myretroflix.com/)

I think it's free with some commercials. It's been a while sinced I've watched anything on it but it seems like the commercial aren't too obnoxious like there are on some of these free stations.

Here's their horror selection, with some unusual offerings:

THE DEVIL BAT turns up everywhere - not so much FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER.

WOW! That's a varied selection of classic to utter trash!

ISLAND OF LOST SOULS ! NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR ! MAD LOVE! The HIDEOUS SUN DEMON!

I gotta talk Tiana into adding that channel!
