Title: Sometimes I just feel I can't win
Post by: Chainsawmidget on February 13, 2018, 01:59:54 PM
So, for ... quite some time actually... I've been living off a "barely enough money to survive" kinda paycheck.  The kind where you're just crossing your fingers and hoping everything works out okay.
You know, where I'm wondering how I can stretch 10 bucks into a weeks worth of meals or how long I can actually be late on bills before things start getting turned off.

I toughed it out and while back I got a raise, got a promotion, and while I'm not rolling in the money or anything I'm doing okay now.

I actually have money to do things I want and fix some of that stuff I was putting off for so long.

A few days ago the oil light came on in my truck.  I was thinking to myself, "have I ever actually changed the oil in this?  I don't think so.  So today I took it in and got the oil changed, and the air filter.  They said there was some sludge build up, but they did something with the oil and said that should probably fix it.

I drive home, the oil lights still on.

Now I go and look this up online.  Is it normal for the light to stay on for a little while?  (I really don't know much about cars.)  I look it up, check a few different sights and pretty much all of them say, "If the oil light comes on, stop your car immediately and don't drive it.  otherwise you could permanently ruin your engine."

Now there's a chance it could still just be some minor thing but ... well ... I have some money now, but I don't have "Buy a completely new stuck" money.

AutoZone might still do free OBD2 checks.

Some makes of cars the warning lights have to be reset by computer, normally from an authorised dealership.

and now I'm pretty sure I'm going to be loosing my job soon.

Toys R us just announced they're closing another 200 stores.

I highly doubt mine is going to be one of the ones that stays open.

Very sorry to hear about your run of bad luck.  :bluesad: I hope things turn around for you and you find a better job.

You are young.  It will be fine.  But, life is work... if you're lucky.  And there are so many great things to enjoy.
It will be okay and you are a survivor.
